I have a s24ultra and the new galaxy watch and love the combo but dammit if the pixel 9 pro xl is t a great phone i feel bad that i abandoned my s24u and my galaxy watch ultra isn't paired to my p9pro XL.
Yes I have but this is different. The phone is constantly doing this without you pressing anything. You can just look down and see the song info for whatever song is playing around you wherever you are. If you go into a restaurant it will hold data regarding every song that played. Also states what time it was heard
I had the pixel 7a and now have the pixel 9 pro Xl. Definitely loving the battery 🔋, picture quality is amazing and the Gemini features are out of this world...
I stumbled across your channel just now as this video came up as a recommended video. My channel is small and I like supporting smaller creators. I just subscribed. I love how you present yourself. Very genuine and authentic. Cant wait to watch more. Keep it up 🙂
I was waiting for this video! I was genuinely curious about your experience. As someone who has used Google Pixel, Apple and Samsung. The pixel just remains my favourite. With the Samsung I just felt like they were too much things on it that i didnt need or never used at all and it just came across as bloat to me. I can see why most iPhone users that try Samsung as their first Android experience find it jarring. I always been an Android user first and for me pixel is a good mixture between simplicity and customization. So not as basic as apple but not too much options as Samsung.
Yea that's a good point. I think the transition from apple to android should definitely be the pixel. Samsung has a lot going for it but it's only good if you know you want that level of customization. I literally forgot I didn't have edge lighting until I made this video and that was a feature I loved but never really paid attention to I guess. I'm used to one ui so I think it's still my favorite but I also have a lot more experience with it. The more I've used this phone the more I've forgotten what things I thought I would miss when I first got it. I think the only thing I would really like is more rule customization but that's only because I specifically had one for when I went into the office.
@@MajesticMadness15 I used edge lighting too but when I switched brands I didn't miss it at all. I guess it all depends on the person. I would agree the rules on the pixel do need some work it could be less basic ya know. I think Google is capable of having better rules because of what I've seen with Assistant routines. They seem to be good with responding to feedback and I'm sure they would consider your requests. You can go into the settings then all the way down select tips and support then all the way down on the next page select "send feedback". I hope they take your thoughts into consideration
I love the ultras! Before I got the s24+ I had an 23 ultra. They're just so big for my little hands but I loved the option of having an s pen when needed and a large screen for watching content. I'm glad you're loving your s24 ultra!! The pixel is holding up pretty well for me so far.
@MajesticMadness15 they r quite big! It's like a whole new world after coming from the z flip 5. Big phone is one of my sweet spots ngl🤣so I am right at home Switching phones is a fun experience,, we all have our different preferences! Make Ur Pixel work for you and not the other way around!🩷
@EdensWrldd_ ooo did almost the same thing I did. I went from the z flip 4 to the s23 ultra. I love the flips and I'm sure the vapor chamber makes the overheating better but I need them to give it the same battery as the ultra
Great Video, very informative, I personally use google phones for the past few years. Every time i personally use a Samsung, I find it to feel like its to much going on, on screen. After pixel 3, its been nothing but pixel.
Awesome video, i just recently got the pixel 9 pro, i just have to have one in my arsenal of phones because of the calling features mostly, no other phone does ot better and the now playing is just what the dr ordered.
Idk if anyone else gas suggested it yet but i highly recommend you get the "mightyskin carbon fiber decal" for your Pixel 9 Pro!!! I have the Pixel 5, 7 pro & 8 pro and no regrets regardless if you plan on having a case or not. The carbon fiber decal has texture which makes it less slippery to hold when using your phone in your hand. Its also so minimal that you won't even notice its there and overtime, I shy away from having a case because of the bulkiness of the phone let alone a case to turn it to a brick. When you do decide to go a few days without the case, at least you know you have a decent amount of protection from overall knicks and bumps! Again, I highly recommend you do this! As far the phone itself goes, you can try out the Gemini AI depending on what it is that you plan on using it to assist you with. I reverted back to regular assistant because Gemini at the moment isn't for me since I'm fairly organized and anything that makes me even more reliant on it only makes me worst at my own organizational skills. One thing to also review which i find many people tend to over look is Google translate app. Once you have a few languages down, the app itself gets baked into other messages platforms such as IG or WhatsApp and more. On your keyboard, its the little white bubble icon with the four squares on the inside located on the left side. That shortcut can automatically get the translate up and going to the point messaging with other languages is seamless. No more of that copy past, define and copy n paste answer. I don't do too mch on my Pixel other than the just the basic, Gmail, keep, RU-vid, translate, web, map and utility app. The biggest stand out as someone who does creative photography is the camera. The specs jumps quite a bit from the 7 Pro to the 8 Pro but the 9 Pro is a minor improvement in the camera thus why I'm holding back on getting it. The manual control for me is god sent! On the auto mode which basically is for 99.99% of the users out there. The long exposure, action pan, time lapsed, astrophotography is really fun to use. It makes taking photography of waterfalls background, fast action scene and the night skies thst much more amazing and worth looking into. Overall, Im very pleased with my Pixel 8 Pro!!! For my personal use, I have the Pixel, work wise... it's basic an iPhone. I would totally buy a Samsung 23/24 Ultra just for the camera. Photos taken with it tend have that dslr look which alot of us want. Overall, the Pixel has evolved enough to the point where it is damn good for an every day smart phone. I almost forgot, for those that Google Fi as their service or RU-vid premium...its only $1 dollar more to get 200 gbs of online storage. Just having Google Fi gave me 100 gbs of online storage. Even with all the videos, photos, music and app...Im at about 40 gbs. I also love that if i lose my phone during a trip or anywhere, I can confidently pick up my older 7 pro, login and within 30 mins. I'm good to go! Everything from messaging, photos and etc...picking up from where i last started. I also don't need to pick up a sim card here or when im abroad. Pixel phone with the combination of Google Fi just makes traveling a breeze for me so far.
New viewer here. I liked your content a lot and the XL looks awesome, it's just super expensive in my region. I was hoping to see more shots of the phone when you were describing things. Great video overall!
14:33 That's because Samsung has a proprietary adaptive codec that the Galaxy Buds use in order to communicate with Galaxy phones giving them a better connection with Samsung devices but nothing else.
You are right, one annoying part on Google phones is that the brightness slider stays on top even if you drop down all the quick setting panels. You always have to stretch your finger to the top to be able to use it, contrary to all android phones
How do you like the size of the XL for everyday use? Does it seem big and heavy when carrying it on your person? I have 2 other bigger phones and am wondering if i should just go for the smaller pro this time around
Honestly no. I typically have a popsocket on it but I did that with my s24+ as well. The only time it feels big is if I'm laying in bed using 1 hand and no popsocket but that honestly feels more like the angle than actual everyday usage.
@MajesticMadness15 ok thank you for the reply. I've been torn about which one to go for. Both pro and pro XL would be free through my carrier with trade in and both 256gb so it comes down to size at this point. Leaning towards the XL
@Johnsantana718 I would say look at what size phone you have now. Like screen dimensions and see if that helps. I was originally waiting for the smaller pixel pro until I compared the screen dimensions to my s24+ which is what I was using before. My s24+ was right in-between the pro and pro XL and I didn't want smaller so I opted for the pro XL.
Google phones have never been known for customizations unfortunately. I can usually adjust to any phone I've bought though. Will say it's nice to see someone who isn't really a "techie" give their views on a new phone though.
I can't ditch my foldables. But the 9 pro XL is now the weekend phone. Might S24 uktra once in a while but yeah. It takes adjusting to go from a device as customizable as a samsung device to a pixel but more often than not? The camera, call screen, now playing and all the extra little quality of life pixel features stack up and makes it a hard experience to kick...plus that CAMERA...whew. glad to see youre enjoying it though!
Exactly!!! I'm telling you this phone must be screening spam calls before they even call me because I've gotten next to none on 2 weeks and minimal "we blocked a suspected spam call" notifications. I really like the now playing as well. I think they're are little things on both that I love. I want to get back in the foldable game but I need them to give the flip style phones bigger batteries.
@@MajesticMadness15 *takes out pocket watch and starts swinging it* "get a booooookstyle foooooldable" *puts pocket watch back in pocket and walks away...
The DND settings don't sync between the Pixel and my Watch 6 Classic. Also, if my phone is on silent, and my watch is on vibrate, notifications will vibrate. My alarm doesn't sync on my watch either. Thankfully, I can say stop, and it stops. I don't have to reach for the phone. Not deal breakers, but everything is only flawless when I'm on my S24U.
@@MajesticMadness15 7 out of 10. I've been immersed in the Samsung ecosystem so long it's hard to not criticize other devices. This Pixel is real nice though. There's a good bit to like, but there are some things I miss like you mentioned. I'm keeping both!!
@katrinawhite8572 that really is the hardest part. I thought that since they're both android that it wouldn't be that much of a difference but I was very surprised. I still have my Samsung as well so we shall see what I pick down the road lol
The watch not syncing Do not disturb settings and alarms are due to it being a Samsung watch and pixel phone. These things are not an issue with a pixel watch and a pixel phone. What's strange to me is that I have an old smart watch called the tic watch pro from 2018 running an old version of wear os and if my pixel 8 pro phone alarms I can stop it from my watch. Maybe it's something Samsung doesn't intentionally doesn't support to keep people in the Samsung ecosystem
Long time Nexus and Pixel user here, really interesting to get the review perspective from someone that is a power Samsung user. I've heard other reviewers say that Google's goal is to sway iPhone users with the simplicity of the Pixel skin.
Honestly I can kind of see that. Like I love one ui but I do like the simplicity that Google brings as well. It really taught me what features I actually need and value. Like I loved edge lightening but it wasn't until I was filming this video that I even realized I didn't have it 🤣
@@MajesticMadness15 I feel the same way, I got a s24 ultra and a Pixel 8a and the pixel software is way above it. Of course Samsung can probably last longer due to internals but the software is just too good on the pixel. Got me thinking of returning the Samsung imao
I don't think they're changing design a lot because they sell the heck out of everything and people love them. and if it isn't broken dont fix it... but they may have to realize people are starting to leave and try other cool things like foldables, even just out of boredom. Iphones are just so reliable
Honestly I don't even mind the design changes. Like you said if it's not broke don't fix it, I just wish they would innovate a little more. Push the boundary. Apple really used to be the first to create certain styles of products and now they're the last if they even create anything different at all. There are a lot of useful features the iPhone could use that they just don't have
I wasn't originally planning on mainly because I don't typically like that style of headphones and they normally don't stay in my ears well. I know they have a locking mechanism but I'm just not sure if those would work for me
Samsung has the call and text to their tablets feature if you have a samsung phone. I know if you download the Google messenger app on your samsung tablet, you can get text, but do you miss the calling function? Also, do you like Google Messenger more?
So I got a Samsung tablet pretty close to me switching to the pixel so I hadn't used those features too much yet, but even when I had an iPhone and an iPad I never really took calls on my tablet. It was more just helpful to know if I wasn't around my phone. I was already using Google messages over Samsung messages and had it on my tablet already so that transition went pretty smoothly
Great video! But I like the s24 ultra better. I miss the features able to record video and go back and forth front and back camera without stopping it. I like the fact that I can use two cameras at the same time. I have the pixel now pro but I think I'm going to return it. I miss those features. Keep up the good work.
That's okay. Here's another one. When you able to screen record. And use the front camera explaining what you got to while screen recording. Those features are epic. I just don't know why Google don't implement those features :-)
@jameswells68 oh wow I never even thought about that. I will say I was surprised at how many things are exclusive to both os'. I always kind of thought that one ui was just the Samsung version of the android os so I assumed a lot of the stuff was already features on the pixel. I didn't realize how many things Samsung put into their own os along with taking some features from the latest Google os.
Got the Pixel 9 Pro through my job. First time using a Pixel phone. The settings menu has been jarring compared to One UI which takes some getting used to. Otherwise, I've been impressed. Get a day and a half to two days of battery life. May have to add the next version to my personal line next year (Primary: iPhone 14 Pro Max, Secondary: Galaxy S 23 Ultra).
I am a new s24 ultra user, I am torn between the ultra and the pixel and initially the pixel was really catching my eye But definitely would not trade my ultra for any other phone! But pixel looks super cute.
Went from Buds 2 pro (also owned pixel buds pro , air pods pro gen , and sound core liberty 4 nc) the galaxy buds 3 pro is the best bud ive used .. hands down
i hate that they have to make "pro" lines boring and mature. in iphone too the colour offerings for pro are muted. i would've LOVED the peony colour for pro xl lol
@@dongordito00 same!! And I tried every ear tip size that I could get from Xtra small to Xtra large. Even tried memory foam tips along with silicone. Nothing worked
I thought I was the only one having that same problem with the Galaxy Buds Pro! They will not stay in my ears no matter what. I also prefer the AirPod shape earbuds, without the rubber tips. But I’ve been looking at these and I might have to upgrade to them.
