Gorgeous, a wonderful pairing. Would have liked a little more ‘romantic rubato’ here and there (a yearning pull back before the big climax in the slow movement, for instance), but that’s a minor quibble. Those treble top notes just shimmer and flicker .. so lovely. Would love to hear your version of his first piano concerto, finally discovered, and so neglected and under-rated, as is this one.
This is a terrific contribution! The Moszkowski piano concerto (In E: there is another in B minor but much less recorded or performed) is a wonderful example of "Romantic" composition. It should be much better known and appreciated. I had never heard this arrangement for 2 pianos. More please! (Moszkowski himself deserves to be much better known - his pianism is wonderful!). There is only one biography!
I’m a piano technician, and I must say that I really like the way the two pianos are voiced to juxtapose accompaniment vs solo just right. My compliments to the technician who did these! The high treble on the solo piano has a beautiful sparkle to it. It’s difficult to do without making one piano too harsh or blending them together and muddying the performance. Hats off to the pianists, this made my day! This is one of my absolute favorite pieces of music. Seeing it arranged for two pianos and played beautifully is just gorgeous. The dynamics are impeccable, the technique to emphasize the accompaniment in just the right places, and the timekeeping. Just amazing! ❤
I cannot believe it's taken 7 years for me to finally hear this...a Messiah chorale done with only a single instrument for each voice (well, close enough). BRAVO!! Now, where can i hear the entire oratorio?!!
