This is what Debussy should sound like. Moravec's radiant tone and profound feel for color, and the mysterious atmosphere of Debussy are glorious! I only wish he had recorded more Ravel. His recording of his Sonatine is stunning.

The fantasy MUST be based on the wander fantasy. The first notes are literally the exact same chord. I find it absolutely insane Billy Joel did this.

It seems that Claude Debussy participated in building the path leading to Jazz in 1905 : at times i hear Bill Evans and other works from Jazz composers of the 20th century. I also heard the premices of Rhapsody in Blue around 3:33 ... amazing ♥

God damn that last half page is kicking my ass. Managed to get through the whole piece only for that monstrously difficult coda at 23:25 to show up at the very end 😂😭
@retrogamerdave362

yep, I never could nail that one down. The rest of the sonata was manageable, you're not alone in that struggle!

Haha yeah, there is a famous saying about that last page. The whole piece isn’t that hard at all, even an amateur could learn to play it. Except for the final bars. It’s almost like Beethoven pranked the amateurs with that ‘surprise’ at the end!

It’s so beautiful how Mendelssohn can make a masterpiece at the individual piece level and at the entire opus level. Each piece is unique but also intimately a part of the larger whole.

You have to learn to eliminate the horizon in music. That's what Monet taught Debussy: eliminate the horizon.

hello? My name is Jeongmin Lee and I live in Korea. I like music. Among them, my favorite music is Mendelssohn's Something. It literally means that it is a song without lyrics. Although there are no lyrics, I really like that Mendelssohn's unique beautiful sensibility is conveyed. In my case, I also like pure, warm music. This is also true. thank you
