The Ultimate DIY channel featuring a wide variety of instructional "how to videos" as well as some of the best tool review videos available. We only review tools that are up to the job so you will never see us reviewing any of the cheaper (throw away) tools. We have nothing to sell and absolutely nothing to gain by promoting items that are not up to the job. All products on this channel have been tried and tested by myself and others. Yes this was very educational. I'm partway through a job. Don't know about my next step. Very hardened large steel bolt. Using carbide bits. May resort to a diamond hole saw but many videos say they don't work good? I've used them in the past and they really helped with broken taps, and extractors. Keep up the great videos!
The most important part of an investigation is a reliable diagnosis. You say the the water pipe in the vicinity is the primary suspect and a blocked cavity the other suspect, therefore you should have also checked the water pipe and fixed any leak found before moving on to such things as injecting damp proof courses. Also using a cement rich 1:3 mortar when repairing old (or even modern) brickwork is totally incorrect as mortar must be weaker and more breathable than the bricks because it is a sacrificial material. Finally you place too much faith in your damp meter and to emphasize this here is a quotation from Protimeter about electric moisture meters. “Contrary to popular belief, a moisture meter is not a diagnosis tool. Rather, it helps an inspector make an informed call about moisture’s presence within a space or material. If your meter is giving you a high reading, that merits further investigation -- dampness may not be the reason for the measurement; metals and salts cause false-positive readings.”
Thanks mate I’ve got a small tap snapped in my motorbike frame and I’ll give it another shot when I get home from holiday where I’ve just been watching your video. 👍
Great video. We had scaffolding up on our kitchen roof to get to the main roof to replace broken and missing tiles and the scaffolding broke 6 tiles under the boards they'd placed to spread the load. Scaffolders said they'd inform the roofer. We've tried for a week to get in touch but all means of communication have failed so now I have to source replacement tiles and do it myself before the rain comes next week 😡.
I have a wall that needs repointing and instead of buying a ready mixed mortar I'd like to knock some up myself. What's the ratio for repointing, Google says different and some RU-vid channels say different
Interesting video, I'd never heard of stainless galling before. I've rebuilt several bicycles using stainless fasteners, and not encountered any problems like this - maybe screwing into aluminium and/or using copper grease has prevented problems.
Thankyou so much for this tutorial, I appreciated you showing us under the sink as you did as my taps are secured to copper pipes like this too and not the bendy tube, i was worried how i'd be able to change the taps but seeing you do it gives me some more confidence to try, appreciate it
Just ordered the saw from Menards here in the US. The extra long track (110 inches total) is out of stock everywhere including the Evolution website. I got lucky and found one aftermarket site that has it in stock. They’re not going to sell many saws unless they offer a full-length track.
Can I use this to center punch a deep broken bolt to extract it ?? The way the bolt broke made a cone shape and it’s impossible to center punch because it slips to the side
Fantastic video, used it when we thought we'd have to take the whole tap out! Worked a treat, the cold one was intermittent. Just the hot tap refused now 😂. Have to give it some proper elbow greese
I have a hollow metal door that has a barrel bolt on it to keep it closed (back of my garage) on the top in to the door frame. I can't keep the screws from pulling out and stripping the hole that holds the bolt mechanism. Thought I needed anchors so tried drywall anchors but because of the little spikes on the anchors that won't grab into the metal, they just spin and spin. Maybe this tool will work with the right kind of anchors. I don't know what kind of anchors would work on a hollow metal door. Help?
i wanna do the same for my 17mm aluminium i think through axle can i do this easily without problems?i want to install 2 squer sized bolts to atach a mtb trailer that uses i think 12mm axle mounts but my axle has a very large allen key one end and threaded other end.it should have enough thickness but its the pulling weight on the axle im concerned about.it seems like aluminium.
You have just saved me hours of scraping a grove around a headlight on my truck. Someone had tried to reattach the headlight cover with silicone! After getting that cleaned out I will be using Flex Glue to put it back on!
