Hello, everyone! Welcome to the channel. My name is Brock (he/him). I love cozy, chill, relaxing games and character driven RPGs and I'm so excited to be here with you all on RU-vid. Feel free to reach out at anytime with comments, suggestions, feedback, etc. and let's build this community together!
I'm a little confused. It uses a lot of Slavic folklore and some russian words, but names and buildings don't seem Russian. Koshchei is a folklore creature, something like Hades. He is a mage and necromancer, usually portrayed as someone evil, but as a lot folklore creatures he is not exactly evil. Reka is a russian word for river. Belarusian and Ukrainian words for river sound somewhat similar, but not exactly (raka and richka). So it's definitely Russian. Old witch actually seems like Baba Yaga. She is also a folklore creature, she is a spirit who lived in a forest in a hut with chicken legs and eats people who failed to do her riddles or quests. Often it was children. Anyway, this is very cozy looking game.
Thank you for this! I love learning about folklore and mythology so this was fun to read. I admit that Eastern European culture and folktales are outside of my knowledge. I’m glad you’re here! 💜
@@volhan.p.9722 they’re German! I looked up their website just a minute ago and they mention Germany being formerly Slavic territory so they wanted to create a game that incorporates that folklore and culture. Looking back I can see some German influence for sure.
@@thebrockstargames this explains houses and clothes. Half of Germany was temporarily influenced/occupied by USSR after WW2, a lot of people there very familiar with russian language, folklore and culture.
what a rude mirror! you save it from eternal darkness, agree to bring it on a journey with you, and the first thing it does is insult you. mirrors these days smh.
I adored this game, on launch. Have fallen out of love with it recently with the newest updates. Something is missing from my experience but I cannot put my finger on what would pull me back in.
that hidden level was really pretty! i think it would be cool to see you go back to get the hidden bots, to see how hidden they are! but if it'd be easier to do off camera, then do whichever is more fun for you, i think.
It's so great seeing people enjoying a good platformer! All the characters from old games are another great addition. I have so many old games and a few systems going back to the NES, Sega Genesis and the original PlayStation somewhere in a bunch of boxes. Hope you continue with this game!
Absolutely planning to keep going with it! I still have my Sega Genesis but I think it’s at my parents’ house. Maybe we should do some retro games for a video or livestream.
this game looks really cute, i'd love to see more! the character/game that you couldn't remember is crash bandicoot. i, too, am an aging millenial. didn't get to play videogames much as a child, and was more of a nintendo kid when i was old enough to have a job and buy my own games, though i did play a few, probably obscure sega games. never played mgs, though my high school best friend was obsessed with the games- well, really, i think she was just obsessed with snake, and the games were a fun side-effect to her lmao.
As soon as I stopped recording I was talking to my partner and was like “you know the game with the wombat thing and you collect apples?” And he couldn’t believe I forgot Crash Bandicoot. 🫣
i recommend lost in play and wandersong! For cozy detectives i'd pick tangle tower and jenny leclue. Let me know if you want to add even more games to your backlog! Edit: also, is there a way to see your backlog? I already added 5 from what i could see on screan, thanks for the suggestions!
I’m ALWAYS down to add to my backlog. And yeah! I can do a community post with it or I’ll put it on my discord server. You can find a link to join us there in the video description.
This game is such a gem, it's great just watching it. Your commentary btw is super soothing and nice to listen to. I'll watch more on your channel in the future too. 🙂
Wow, this game is so cute! I love how old school it feels. Definitely agree that it has old harvest moon vibes. The game boy HM was one of the first video games I ever played, fun fact
Good use for golden runes is when you’re leveling up and find yourself a little short of the next level. It’s a nice way to store money that you dont lose upon death so don’t pop them too early.
@@thebrockstargames yes! And it’s a weapon good enough to carry you thru the rest of the game, especially based on your play style so far. Also, to summon spirits for help, equip the spirit ash alongside your flasks and consumables. Whenever you see an icon on the left side of your screen that looks like a gravestone, you can use a summon.
glad to see you back to the lands between. great video as always! also looking at your other videos, could not believe you don't have more subscriber tbh
Early on, cash out your runes to level up, improve weapons and (eventually) summons. There are tons of runes out there, and nothing wrong with banking the larger ones.
Just going to list a few things here to help you out in the order they happened in your video. Loved the video cant wait till the next one! 1. There is an npc by the ghost boat guy you fought that you should talk to. (idk if still there though after you left) 2. Another npc where you fought the red invader. (idk if still there though after you left) 3. Be sure to go back to patches. 4. Yes, holy damage kills the skeletons for good. 5. Save your runes to buy stuff from merchants and when you want to level up and are just short. 6. A blue symbol appears on the left hand side when you can summon. Summons do take mana though so make sure you have enough. 7. The easiest way to compare general weapon damage is to go stats and then look on the right hand side. You can then see how much total damage each weapon that you have equipped does. Just equip the ones you are comparing. You will need to keep in mind how fast the weapon swings still and what move sets you like better. A great sword will show a bigger number than an upgraded dagger but the dagger swings real fast so in practice its better. Generally speaking use the weapon you like the feel of using and upgrade as high as you can. 8. When it comes to armor/defense more is obviously better but looking cool is the most important. Medium rolling is also very good for helping you not die. Try not to fat roll. HP is king when it come to defense. Generally I'd have at least 20 before doing Margit and then 10 more every time you start to feel like you are getting killed in two or three hits up to 80. 9. The guy the wolf dude is looking for is the guy who had blood hound fang (you already killed). The wolf guy may be standing out side the boss fight to talk to you about it.
Thank you!! This is all really helpful information to have and I appreciate it. I thought the name wolf-guy gave me sounded familiar so I will go see if I can find him next part.
i'm definitely glad for autumn! it's felt like it's here for about a week or so here, which is odd, but i'm definitely not complaining. i'm sure you take wonderful care of nora, i'm only suggesting this because it's a bit unusual, so you/your vet might not have thought of it, but have you considered something like a onesie for nora, to help her stop chewing herself? i lived with a cat who similarly had really bad skin allergies, and would tear herself apart even with allergy meds and shots. i'm not normally one for clothes on pets, but it really helped her a lot. so i just wanted to mention it, on the off chance it could help another pet.
That’s a great idea! She normally doesn’t have a problem when she’s on her medication but the auto shipment got delayed so she’s had to go a few days without. Hopefully they get here soon.
Thanks again to the devs for the key! If you are interested in checking out URBO you can use my affiliate link here: lurk.ly/Cw8iga Enjoy and please do let me know your high scores!
Rancher dad 👀 It would be nice to see you play the DA games! Tactics RPGs are my type of cozy, something about a well-synergized build/party is incredibly satisfying. Plus, DA companion rosters are always golden.
Oh! Yes! Licorice tea is top tier. And inventory space is annoying to deal with for sure. Especially in games like Skyrim and Fallout. What do you mean I have a weight limit?!?
Glad you're getting back to normal. Looking forward to lots more. I'm pretty high strung and work in emergency medicine. Your videos help me to relax. Thank you.
i've never eaten dandelion greens (not personally a fan of greens in general), though i have fed them to multiple lizards that i cared for, they quite enjoyed them! and the flowers were a special treat for them.
Hold for repeated use is in settings. You need to bind it. There are separate keys/buttons for hold repeated use and hold to charge. Hold to charge is the default. I assume both will be used and are separated for spells later. You wouldn't want to accidentally use a charged spell by having them the same button, only reason I can figure they separated them. And, I also avoid using names.
I've always hated summer but hate it with a passion now. Because now it's just fire and smoke season where I am. Fall and winter are great though and spring is okay, except for knowing summer is coming. It's surprisingly cool lately though so at the risk of jinxing it, I'm hoping for an early fall.
I have a blue yeti mic on a boom arm. From what I know that’s a pretty common mic for starting out because it’s decent quality and inexpensive. Hopefully you’re asking because it sounds so good! 😂
