If anyone watching this decides to make a transmission for comp, make sure that you space out both receiving gears so that you can switch gears while moving (if two gear ratios are active for even a split second, it will result in a stall). If you do not, like in this video, you will have to come to a complete stop before switching gears.
this is a good video to enhance my understanding. thanks! btw the music on the background makes me feel like a superhero ready to padel my way to the end of south pole
It`s hell sometimes to be mechanically inclined and financially strapped.. it makes us think more.. and more and more.. thanks for being informative. It cleared things up.. too many projects makes scattered brained.. again thanks..
I know this is a older video but I am trying to help my moms (she is a teacher) team program a servo with easyc. It seems straight forward to me but I am having trouble communicating it through Skype. Do you have any recommendations or other videos ? We were able to program the motors for drive and the arm motor but we are stuck on the servo. Thanks for any help
We need to eliminate one motor on our robot. We need to try and use one motor for our arm but are concerned about not having enough torque.Do you have any suggestions?
Hi, You have two options if you need to remove a motor from your arm. The first option is to add rubber bands or surgical tubing to your design which will help lift the arm. This will keep the speed of the arm the same. However, if you are trying to use the arm in the opposite direction such as putting a down pressure on something or lifting the robot off the ground the rubber bands or surgical tubing will work against you. The second option is to use a gear ratio which is lower than the gear ratio you're using currently. This will help your motors hold and lift your arm up, however it will slow down the speed of the arm. please see: kb.vex.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037389012-Robot-Arms-Mechanisms-for-VEX-V5 kb.vex.com/hc/en-us/articles/360035590932-Gear-Ratios-Motor-for-VEX-V5
pop-up campers use it to lift the roof with a winch they are made of steel channel which is harder to see what's going on inside that's where this video helps. You can lift more weight by increasing the sizes and thickness of all the components, or using components of harder material rated for more weight. Careful about anything lifting weight have safety measures in place and check for wear over time.
