Great to meet you at the Hampton Court Flower Show - willows purchased - very excited about growing them and developing a willow arch. Thank you for your coaching yesterday.

6 feet are fine. We recommend to trim the crown twice in Summer to make it dense and to keep the growth down as willow is a willing plant.

my worry is if a branch or 2 die as its growing the braided tree is ruined. Im thinking of buying a 4 foot one and im assuming the branches will get thicker but if some die will not look great. anyone have an opinion on that? thank you

You can let the willow sticks start of in a bucket of water. Then you can see if they are all fresh and alive. Should one of the sticks die it will still look fantastic with a big and compact crown. The stem will get thicker as it will need to drag up more water for the big crown.

What a great video! Very informative! I just wanted to know if there is a certain type of willow which is better as I know there are different colours. Also when the leaves drop in winter time, when do you cut that years growth off please or do you leave it on?
