Why are you promoting the 3 Network ZTE? Which is locked into 3? What about the unlocked versions? The amount saved with the unlocked one in the UK is enough to pay for the router in a year. Router $295 (US) A no limit sim on a monthly contract can be had for $21 US. Choices are Vodaphone, O2 an Three networks at that price. Also you say Wifi six gives better penetration in the house. Totally wrong. 2.4GHz gives the best penetration. The higher the frequency the poorer the penetration, but the higher the data speed. So politely, you don't seem to know much about WiFi - Why do reviews?
Three is the best network for 5G home broadband, generally, and their package is by far better value than buying the router upfront. Most people prefer to have technical support, which you don't get if you buy just a SIM, and many can't afford £200 upfront - which is why no ISP structures their pricing this way. WiFi 6 offers 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz bands. You might want to research what WiFi 6 refers to.
If anyone's interested in community fibre please contact me! I work in the sales team and I've got some great offers that aren't available on the website
They are the worse nothing but issue sending out 3 open reach Engineer 3 different routers customer service all just read from the same spirit don’t get them there the worse
Sadly, it's EE that own BT now. (according to the person I spoke with at BT CS afew days ago) Thanks for the review, I'm currently debating whether to move from my current provider, Plusnet over to EE/BT.
Thank you for this great video ! I’m with virgin media and I play fifa and it’s the worse ! I’m so desperate for a new provider with the lowest ping… I think Vodafone based on your research at under 10ms sounds the most appealing ? Or potentially EE …. What would you suggest ?
I heard Vodafone is very good. I'm with sky and the standard fibre and it sucks, they can't offer me ultra fast because of postcode which is a shame. I tried for Vodafone but they don't support my postcode also sadly for me. Hopefully I can get with Lit as I heard they're good fingers crossed we deserve better. 😌 Good luck with your choice 🙂
Both should be good, if you're in an Openreach area (not CityFibre which Vodafone sometimes uses) the technology will be the exact same, and the difference in ping should be down to the router. Both have pretty good routers.
We recently changed to them and I identified another negative point at least in my area. Certain apps are restricted or capped. With a VPN on or using mobile data apps work fine. So there is a sort of traffic shaping in place. Im referring to popcorntime and hdo box. Both are now very slow downaloading artwork and hdo box is showing less servers for certain media. They are for sure blocking them. Didnt test stream play yet to see if this is affected or not. On hdo box media was loading fine on the available servers but i only watched it for a few seconds. If they dont remove these restrictions i will have to use a VPN to overcome these issues. As so make sure you test all your services during your 30 days trial period if you sign up. We will probably stick with it nonetheless specially considering the price difference and the fact I'm not the one paying for it...
Beware.... when the contract ends the price rockets to £58.69 . ........ Consistently drops out around 9pm so regularly you can set your watch by it! ....complained but never got resolved.
Hey, I really like your videos. Just got EE broadband and mobile data . The problem is though that when gaming away from home via xbox or ps remote play, it doesn't work due to their double nat situation. Something that goes by the name of CGNAT. This has really screwed me over. I used to be with talk talk, and there was minimal issue. However, I went for the EE WiFi 6 router, which will not allow my mobile to talk to the router from outside the home. When you try to speak to the guides, they don't want to entertain this and direct you to XBOX or PlayStation. I have read reviews on their community, and many people are having the same issue. Ee should not advertise that their routers are for gamers. Please look into this. I know you will find a solution.
Don't do it, I changed from Virgin Media, and now none of my 2.4 equipment work now, as they stupidly restricted the ability to split SSID channels, which means my blink door bell and lights do not pick up the WIFI... Saying that, nice review.
I've had mine for over a year, I'll give you a review. They're bloody awful, I have to restart mine daily to actually get my proper speeds, if I don't then I get about half what I should. It's the 2nd one I've had from them and had an engineer out too, I've also got an ONT box so it's fibre.

Question, I've been stuck on Virgin Full Fibre for a while now and openreach has only just installed Full Fibre for other companies in my area. If I switch from Virgin to another company.. Will the other company cancel virgin for me? That''s usually the case with providers I've had in the past. I just don't want to put up with them.
im moving in to a house with 5 other gamers for just one year. could we buy the mc888 and a 12 month 5g sim card off of amazon. would that be enough. would we also need ethernet cables and an ethernet switch?
Depends on the 5G signal and the types of games you're playing - ping sensitive shooters it's not great for, EASFC and that sort of thing would be better. Also depends whether you're always downloading large games/updates. For six people honestly 300 Mbps+ fibre might be better, Hyperoptic and Virgin offer month to month contracts although it's more expensive. You could try the MC888, if you do, Ethernet would be best if mostly gaming on consoles/PC.
Don't use BT whatever you do. We had a 24 month contract with them. After a couple of months We were late for two payments and so they canceled our contract and charged us for the full 2 years plus penalties. It cost us over £2000 and we lost the service. This clause is hidden in BTs commercial contracts. So if you are a business or sole trader don't use BT as they will Rip you off. Good luck.
I bought a SMARTY unlimited data deal (which runs on a 3-network) & i got no signal here in South Wales, so disappointed even though they confirmed they offer a signal in the area!
Excellent Video - I have a Vodafone 4G Mobile Hotspot R228t - The signal is awful - Download speed is less than 1 Mbps ( yes One Mbps) in Kettering town centre.
I have shell, My son arranged it for me because i'm not very good with tech. The deal is £25 p/m and sometimes i can't even use my laptop......Just keeps buffering😠.
You might need to get him over to help troubleshoot. You might need to ring Shell but TalkTalk have acquired them now, so it could be that you need to contact them instead.
