DO NOT use "Door & Window" silicone sealant for this - it has a mildewicide added to it. Use 100% pure silicone that states it is safe for aquariums and/or food use. Trust me on this; I've killed fish using the wrong stuff and it wouldn't surprise me if enough traces could get into hot wax to harm the bees drawing it out. It can be hard to find sometimes. The last time I looked there was nothing in the big box stores I could trust not to kill my fish.
Exactly what I needed - thank you! All the beekeepers here in US seem to be rich. I am not. Will be using plastic bottles for "log" hives as in Advoco RU-vid. And I found a mosquito net camping hat 2nd hand & modified it with a frame for better view. But a smoker was out of reach. Um... So are there any things I need to consider before cutting the fire extinguisher? Discharged completely ✅️ yes, plastic pipe around for guide, and secured to bench to cut, but anything else? If discharged to 0, is there still any pressure still inside? Will it pop?
the thought came to mind that these stands are more than likely the most durable hive stands ever. its concrete so no rotting like wood or rusting like steel. Definitely going to give you years of use.
Sun shine😁and coffee ok.👍Beekeepers have the most beautiful offices. I look forward to this, you have given me so many ideas over the short time I have followed your journey. Blesses Days...
I started noticing this, I have begun to learn that the bees will tell us things if we pay attention. Thanks for this video, not sure why it didn't show up on my feed.
Harris my mentor was mentioned a new style hive feeder he saw on FaceBook, I wonder if this is what he saw. 🤔So many ideas.😁 Interesting. I wonder about a looped drip line or maybe even the little sprayers. You could make yourself a larger reservoir of syrup per "bee-bank, bee-bench" and run lines to the hives. Maybe bucket sitting on top as a larger replacement for the bottle, but still using the feed-line system. Thanks for checking this out and sharing your experience with it.👍
