Bruce!! My brother and I had the pleasure of sitting next to you for this game!! Don let us have his tickets for this game and we had a blast watching it with you!
I was at the game too. I came to Eugene from Pittsburgh for the game for my 4th Duck football game but it was my first ever trip to Autzen Stadium. I was right near you. I had a Duck foam head that I got in 2007. I have been a Duck fan since I was 8 and 4 days before the Colorado game was my 30th birthday. Autzen Stadium was awesome. I got my picture taken with the Duck and even met some women's basketball players and women's basketball head coach Kelly Graves. I am 4-0 at Duck football games. Go Ducks!!!!
The fact that this was just the Stanford game speaks volumes. I was there for the USC game and the Civil War last year and it was deafening. They even put up a decibel meter during the visitors' defensive third and fourth downs and it was consistently hitting 127+ decibels. Let's see The Big House, the Horseshoe, or Beaver Stadium match that. Everyone asks if Oregon is ready to go into the B1G but the real question is is the B1G ready to go to Autzen lol
Autzen is probably the loudest college football stadium I've ever been in. UGA when playing Clemson or SC is pretty close, but not quite. OU (Sooners) is approaching, but nothing is like Autzen.
I love my Ducks, but this is lame. This crowd is second to none in the country. They need a tradition sing-along song that will blow the visiting team out of the water. Look at Virginia Tech's entrance, Clemson, Wisconsin's "Jump Around," Penn State...they are WILD. And we have the fans to outdo them all. "Shout" ??? Come'on man. Just my opinion. This right here is what we need...something like this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YC8LLYMp4M4.html
I like that the stunt man who wore the Duck costume understood the gestalt of the Duck. If he landed and acted like some other mascot may have acted, it would not have looked so good. There's a very specific vibe. That's good briefing on the part of the cheer coach. Shout out to Dana and the cheer coaching staff on that one!
The Ducks are the best. So right. Hard to deal with it if not a Duck, I guess, but not an excuse for being a nasty guest in a beautiful stadium with fans who make an effort to be kind and welcoming hosts. We were in section 1, and distracted by the disrespect. It really was a bummer for us UO fans that only get to come to a few games and cherish the Duck moments. My husband was in his college band (other side of the county) and especially frustrated by the lack of class in that stunt. I guess people these days have a hard time appreciating the experience and prefer to try and mess things up. Being a disrupter is "in." sad. @@nathankim8291
