Hey you, I am a Feminine Brand Perception Advisor who curates discussions around the BEST of the BEST topics on fashion , beauty, charm it's current use and its history.
Girl, I just discovered the kitnchener essences and I love your vids ❤❤. In this video you talked about Hollywood and the roles that an ingenue fits into. Maybe you can make a series talking about which roles each essence fits into in movies and films and the way they are perceived in the media/to normal people? Just a little suggestion. Anyway, keep up the good work 😊💕💕
I know how to pronounce it the right way since it is a French word and French is my first language but have to make video understandable for a large audience
I just found this channel but I love how unique your perspectives are, it's so much fresher than a lot of kibbe /body type content that can be so repetitive
Thank you! I didn't know these were actually two completely different styles and was turned off. Turns out I totally identify with old money. I notice that these styles are solely focused on Western cultures. What about old money in other parts of the world? I would love to see some colors and prints
This is an interesting post and one I just came to the realisation to a couple of months ago. I had to learn to lean into my strengths which don't match most of my culture's aesthetic. The best thing I did for myself was stopped trying to look like everyone else that way I can stand out and look good to the people who like my look. It made my life so much easier
Australian actress Jackie Weaver (not the UK actress) is a good example of a mature Ingenue essence; she's now in her 70's. Although she is rounded and petite (i.e. leaning Romantic) she hasn't lost her Ingenue facial features. Browse "Australian Jackie Weaver at awards" to see pics from recent decades of her evening looks, where she has frequently aimed for a less Ingenue vibe. e.g. Dramatic or Classic. But I think she still looks her best in Ingenue styling.
I have ingenue essence but I have quite a strong personality. It upsets people when I’m not what they assume and they often respond by becoming quite aggressive and manipulative in an attempt to shut me up and make me bend to their wishes. You really have to know how to stand up for yourself… Especially when you’re young! Now that I’m getting older and I’m more confident people aren’t so pushy
This!! People always like to generalize things when they talk about a sensitive topic but u put in words that the experience and interpretation will never be the same . For eg: in USA some say they preffer skinny bodies and dome say thick, regardless, in my country they preffer curvy woman(curvy≠fat; some guys preffer slim but are "rare" or they just don't talk about it) in my preteens years I always was compared to others girls of the same age and that made feel insecure but now I dont care about it anymore. I was shocked because they preffer thinner bodies😮 the world is really diferent and people too.
To add more: shorts propotions;low nose bridge with a round tip(round nose) ;short face;full cheeks;wide distance between the eyes and eyebrows;wide distance between the eyes(can make u look fierce too);soft eyebrows arch;round eyes(vertical length is similar in width ).
I have elements of both. I generally wear a lot of southwestern style clothing because of my heritage, and ethnicity seems to influence my lean towards ingenue because I look better with long black hair. Something is "off" if I try an entire tomboy look, but I look foolish if it's too dolly with frills. Adding natural elements to the ingenue balances me out. The Mexican maiden or Amerindian princess are my archetypes. Southwestern farmcore coquette is my personal aesthetic.
Love this video! I’ve always been told I look young and have a baby face, even as I approach 30. But I find that I wonder how I’ll look when I’m older, because of how soft my face looks. I have a curvier body so I’m going to try and lean into the romantic side
Wonderful explanation however important to remember that these are largely labels. The concept of the ingenue extends beyond body type into a meaning of innocence and unsophistication, vs gamine which is boyish in character. Ingenue leans more feminine. So kind of girly girl vs tomboy. However both of these definitions completely exclude the fact that humans beyond their physical characteristics extend into a wide array of personality traits and both are beautiful.
Wow i did not expect this to get into such depth and hard hitting truths to me- about others seeing me as a blank slate and me having trouble asserting my personality before adapting to what others want
This is so helpful. I used to have people tell me I looked like Taylor Swift, which I don’t see at all, but I am 5’11 and was very thin when I was younger. I think because of my height I’m necessarily considered a dramatic in Kibbe. As I’ve aged my body is MUCH curvier - I have a 32G/H bra size and wider hips. My waist is very defined though and I have been told I’m an hourglass. I try to use Sofia Vergara now as a fashion role model, even though she’s shorter because I really dislike having such heavy breasts and would like a reduction. I do not feel comfortable in patterns and always try to accentuate my waist and my long thin legs in order to accentuate my femininity and minimize the perception of my size.
Great analysis! I am a dramatic body type but have a cute, almost boyish face. I often break up my vertical line with color blocks, wear shorter dresses, bows, florals, velvet, fur, pearl earrings.. Some analyses try to put TSwift into a box and say that her cute outfits are wrong/don’t work. Definitely not the case, and I think it is so cool how our features can translate into a versatile collection of looks and moods!
I wonder what is a disqualifier for the Naturals and Classics. I thought that maybe I'm Dramatic, I have large hands in comparison to my face, but my feet are moderate.
Honestly, I REALLY see her as a spring...maybe like light to true spring, because in her earlier years, she managed to look much warmer when it comes to skin tone and light vibrant, but warm colors of clothes were AMAZING in her...plus black and like...contrasting colors would look really amazing on her...idk, she just looked so fresh like that🤷
She definitely was using a lot of bronzer/ tanner back then. Cause if you look at the yellow dress she wore recently to a Fenty Beauty product launch, it was so soft and so muted and it just lit her up. Also you could tell she was using minimal bronzer. When she wears soft pinks she looks phenomenal. A video styling example would be the Hate that I love you video
I think what goes for any type that leans slightly yang or is mainly or fully yang is that when they are young and not fully "settled" into their bodies yet they might have baby fat on their body that kind of conceals their true beauty, making them look somewhat mismatched. So even when they are at a perfect weight, they might feel odd within their own skin. I've seen that within myself and I lean only slightly yang (DC). I had the same weight for the most part from when I was 14 to nowadays (being 36) and I always looked a bit chubby, even during the time I was slightly underweight. This had started when I hit puberty and it took quite some time to "melt away" naturally. I would say I finally lost it in my mid to late 20's. That was also the time I got back into figuring out my style. So many things had changed for me and I was really eager to learn what actually suits me and what doesn't. Turns out I don't need fuzz and frill - which I am glad about because I am really not liking to add many details and wear busy and loud outfits anymore.
Usually based on your lifestyle you would pick one essence and stick to it. In your daily life what part of you do people see the most ? It would be different for a journalist and a runway model.
I have ingenue and classic essence. This was a really interesting video. Hollywood is obsessed with youth and whats taboo and has been from the beginning of time and it’s good to see someone talking about it. The thumbnail is literally how I see Hollywood 😂 the creepy old man
Astrology of location. Examples Georgia O'Keefe, Walt Disney. I experienced different themes in different places I lived. I graduated from UCLA. I have lived in Houston. I currently live on the front range in Colorado. Although I miss warm weather and flowers in winter, my luck, expansion, career, and family I grew up with feel better supported when I lived just east of the Rockies. A more Sag influence mid country, more Capricorn energy on the East coast, Scorpio influence in Alaska, and by coincidence a Scorpio moon for the state of California. 💚☕💐🙏
