Hey everyone my names Blair. I created this RU-vid channel to show the world different aspects of fishing in Australia. I spend most my time fishing out my Hobie Kayak and absolutely love it. The fish I typically catch range from red fin perch, trout, mulloway, pink snapper, dhufish, and occasionally even sharks or other sea creatures.
Is That water colur like that all the time? Chocolate Fish... I suppose the trout are chasing the vibrations in that water as visibility is minimal.. Nice big Brownie, well done
Nah it’s not like that all the time. They are normally in a clear stream which feeds into here so they go in and out of the clear water. That stay in the dirty water as it’s nice and cool being deeper so I’m assuming they’re just doing their best to survive. Cheers
It’s a common location in the south west of wa so most people would know it. That’s why I won’t say the exact location but if you’ve been there you’d know
Good stuff Blair. I was wondering at the start whether you had some shelter/refuge for the fish... cormorants always seemed to clean up all the fish from dams back home when there wasn't enough shelter... didn't take them long either! Cheers
I’m pretty lucky (I think) with the dam being either muddy or dark tannin stained water so it’s hard for birds to find the fish. This doesn’t mean they won’t but less likely and with the structure it gives them somewhere to congregate. There are random sticks that fall in and the reeds when the water is high for them to hide in as well
Thanks mate! Getting one on fly would be sick and a boat or in my case a kayak does open up possibility’s. You will be able to get good fish land based though
Can’t say as the places no longer sells them but there’s quite a few places in Perth and I’ve seen them in local pet shops but they will need a permit if stocking them in any dams
Awesome mate! Hopefully you can learn a thing or two and enjoy the content. Kayak fishing is great and has been a game changer for me so hopefully you enjoy
Cheers Peter! Yeah it’s insane. Declan reckons one school had about 50 to 100 fish and then other spots were not as many but still left some fish there as they shut down. They’d just move up and down the waterway filling all the liveable areas
