Never has there been someone that everyone wanted to win world champs more than we all wanted Peaty to win. Well done boys, this will forever be my favourite race to watch. Here I am in 2024 coming back to re visit this incredibly nostalgic place in time. I say well done boys because for me, Rob’s commentary made it all that more powerful. I still well up and shed a little tear every time I watch it. I still get all the adrenaline, all the nervous energy and all the anxiety even though I know he wins/won. Peaty was an absolute beast in his hay day and absolutely no one could touch him when he was on form. He was to me and to many others our hero. Thank you Peaty. Steve Peat, the mountain bike legend.
Rob Warner made Claudio Caluori sound like a Buddhist Nun. 🤣🤣 By the time of the redbullTV era when he commentated with CC, Rob had mellowed out somewhat, TBH.
"The atmosphere is so tense, even the trees are holding their breath" LMFAO coming up with gold like that in the heat of the moment is why nobody could ever replace this man. legend!
Comes to something that this race seems better laid out and organised than modern ones and was on sky tv, whereas now its a struggle to watch world cups
Totally agree, Mark Beisiegel's commentary is good too, while maybe not as exciting as Warner's it's still very professional, informative and pleasant to listen to. Worlds better than that current guy they have doing it.
It is incredible how the sport has progressed since then. How tracks became extremely technical. And the bikes became bigger - those guys and gals look like they were rinding bmx when compared to current bikes!
Just nuts how the tracks, bikes, the riders and the riding changed over the last 25 years. "How much line choice do you want?" "Yes." Back when a lefty was a dh fork.
Thanks for uploading this! It's cool to see this uploaded with proper stereo audio. Someone else uploaded it back in 2012, but their video only has mono audio which is a bit annoying (especially with headphones). It's just a shame the post-credits stuff isn't included 😕 The Aston Hill Black Run bit is one of my favourite parts
@@DownhillSnail Ah no worries mate 😊 I actually have the original VHS tape back home at my parents' house, tucked away in my bedroom. I just don't have means of playing it anymore as technology has moved on 😅 When I eventually buy my own place I might get a VHS player for the nostalgia lol
