Different steel for different tasks. This is just rationalization to own more knives from someone who collects knives. My grandfather owned one pocket knife at a time. It was either a buck 110 or before that an old timer. He carried a pocket knife around for about 60 years. it was just a simple carbon steel and then a 440 for the buck I believe. If you want a bunch of knives, go for it. But 99% of the people out there any Blade steel is going to be just fine for daily tasks.
I think the factory Spyderco clips are pretty nice. They slide right in most pockets. No need here to hide my knife with deep carry clips. That being said MXG has some pretty good clips along with Lynch. Who would have thought we would be paying 30+ for clips 😂. Here we are.
Mini grip is super cool, definitely a solid little knife! I'd try to look for a g-10 handle instead of the FRN, as that's really my only complaint with it
I just got my first CRK today, a large sebenza 31 tanto. I was worried it would be too big but its not at all. I wear medium sized gloves, my hands are not big: Why do people think this is a big knife? What surprised me about the design is it seems to fall into my hand in perfect position automatically, I don't have to adjust it in my hand. I'm not a knife guy, so there's not much I know. I was military but the closest I got to danger was burning my finger on a hot dinner roll in the chow hall. But getting back to the knife, its super high quality. I'm going to be buttering a lot of pop tarts with this thing.
The Lynch clip for the Para 3 is not as deep carry for TIP UP carry because it gives more clearance for the lanyard hole, but if you carry TIP DOWN then the clip does carry as deep as the MXG. A bit of a compromise depending on how you carry your Para 3 and if you like to use a lanyard. I personally use Lynch clips on most of my knives, mainly because I like their "stubby" version of clip and the service has been excellent. Edit:- l just checked and found that l don't use a specific Para 3 clip but l have the standard Lynch Spyderco Stubby clip that fits most new Spyderco knives with the 3 screw clip. I think in your video your Lynch clip is specific to the Para 3 ?
That MXG Gear Deep Carry Pocket clip in the Para 3 is for a Para 2. You can tell because it dies not have the offset for the lanyard hole. MXG makes one for a Para 3.it has the offset unlike. The Para 2
Am I the only one to notice... They are using the guardian 3 sheath for the guardian 3.5... The handle shapes are different and how they interact with the sheath opening are different. The sheath opening is clearly formed to fit the Guardian 3 handle shape. At 200$ I expect a sheath that is actually formed properly for the knife it comes with. The sheath also seems to only be held together by the stitches, no glue. Mine creaks and the layers shift against each other stretching the stitches. It will fail eventually. Also, the plastic insert inside my sheath arrived broken/split and flaps around inside the sheath and is just shoved in there. Not glued, not stitched in, just a little sheet of plastic folded in half and shoved into the hole. I pulled it out easily with needle nose pliers.
Hey man just wondering if you plan to go back to making videos again? I know you've done some shorts a while back but I used to watch and really enjoy your videos. Have a good one.
Hey my friend, I really appreciate the comment! I actually am coming back to make videos, have a knife on loan right now that I'm going to film a review for. We'll get some stuff back up on the channel after Thanksgiving. Thanks so much for the support!
I've never owned m390....and I just got Magnacut, and S45vn for the first time...Magnacut impressed me more. S90V great, but I'm afraid it's brittle , and I abuse my knives, so I rarely use it ....well, only for light work. My M4 osbourne is on the way this week ! Can't wait to check it out
@@Icy_Knife_Reviewsfunny enough I traded my Chaves 229 redencion kickstop straight across for the bnib avo and a bnib 10v scorpion para 3! Anywho, I had some rub marks on the coating after putting it in my pocket. I cleaned it with a pencil eraser, well that made the blade coating WAY lighter in color tone. Way more yellowish. Any idea what type of oil besides Ballistol and mineral oil will bring the shade back down? It’s never been disassembled and I want to keep it that way. So it’s darker near the pivot and I’d like to get uniformly darker. Any input would be awesome
@@roscomcfarland204 hey thanks for the comment! Sweet pickup on that para 3. I'd say that eraser probably got some microscopic residue rubbed off onto the DLC and you could use a gentle abrasive to get it off, rather than an oil. Oils may just soak in and not rub out the eraser. Honestly man I'd try the magic eraser or maybe a little bit of soap and water with a microfiber. Can't say for sure that it'd work but that's my best guess for now! Let me know if that helps. Cheers!
I ll have this and the BM hidden river or canyon , whatever it’s called , lol . Looks like a fine piece of cutlery to carry daily imo . I like the small fixed blades for summer and frees up pocket space . I ll attatchment a small ulti clip to the leather belt part with crimped inserts for the leather holes . They should come with that for shorts and sweatpants carry but it can be done easily enough imo.
I wear large size gloves, and I get a 3.5 finger grip on it with my thumb on the slider. The contoured handle does make it pretty comfortable though. With thicker fingers I could see it feeling slightly too small. The combat troodon is a much more comfortable full grip choice, or the ultratech for a cheaper option.
Thank you for a great review, the best I´ve seen on this knife. Do you think this would be good for light wood work, like feathersticking and notchmaking? Greetings from Norway.
Thank you for the kind words! These are always a pleasure to read. I'm admittedly not very experienced in woodworking, but I'd say this knife could be good for lighter tasks as you've said. It's got a very fine edge so might work well for more detailed work. Another one to consider that has a shorter, more workable blade and tougher steel is the Benchmade immunity. A bit pricier but could work even better. Cheers!
