How do you know how wide you should make the circle? Surely every lampshade is different.

This is all well and good. However, what is the diameter of the circle? Random number? How far apart do you space the nails? My panels are 12 inches top to bottom and there are six of them.

So watching this it looks like you made you glass large enough to accommodate two layers of what ever it is you are sealing it with. Can you please let us know what you are using to create the seal. Also am I correct about the size of the inside and side glass sizes? I really want to learn the technique of double paining. Does this keep out the moisture you often seen on double pained glass? It is not really air sealing the window so I was wondering if moisture still got in?

from doing this back in the late 70`s.we did it a lot different...but now days they have a wet seal you apply after.. comes in a tube how good is your guess good as mine ...swiggle never did prove to be much good....thickness means a lot it has to fit in the glass channel..we used hot butyl back in the day

Can you show how you did it? Just trying to learn more about double paning a stained glass window.

The method used is now considered out of date. Firstly he has used a swiggle strip or super spacer around a y section lead. This means that he has to apply the spacer twice. In a thin unit this can result in the unit hitting the inside of the glass. It is much easier to use a H section lead. Trim off one of the legs and use the spacer to 'trap' the panel against one of the glass leaves. Leaded light should never be grouted. professional studios use a narrow heart lead which holds lead firm

You have to buy the dvd which is relatively inexpensive but gives more detail.

Great jig, but geezloueeze you must have asbestos fingers to be able to hold the glass soooooo near to where your soldering!!! Great video, thanks for teaching!!!!

It seems as though people are frustrated because you played music and didn't really tell anyone how you were doing this process and what you were using. I think a lot of would like to know more.

First I'd like to note that is a triple IG unit. But why don't you finish the process. I'd like to see how you go from applying the black butyl to a finished product. It has to be heat sealed (or condensation with form). You go from butyl with metal edge shown to finished. There are final steps missing. I'd love to see how you do this in your studio. Please add the last parts.
@andyharpist2938
@andyharpist2938 2 года назад
when the final stages are avoided I am not convinced
@DaylightGlass
@DaylightGlass 15 лет назад
Ok technically that's triple glazed. BUT beyond that you never show how you heat seal the black butyl. One minite you see the metel ribbing and the next it is all black.???? It is sticky but condensation will eventually start if not properly done. So, I'm very interested in your do it at home job. BUT please finish the video.

the lead does'nt oxodize when sealed the warm edge spacer absorbs the moisture in the sealed unit preventing oxiziation
