I remember when we were in music class, and the cute teacher played a cassette tape version of this recording. My classmates that I had gone bonkers when my face suddenly turned serious and I yelled "READY, AIM, 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐄" during the buildup at 0:34 to herald the first canon blast in this piece. After this, pandemonium took over! My peers were shouting "Fire" at will .... birdshit style. 😝
YEAH, RIGHT ????!!!!!! That's what intrigued me in the first place !!!! I came across these 2 clips that RESPECTED Tchaikowsky's intentional and purposeful timing of canon blasts. Furthermore .... I discovered that they were performing this piece at a tempo VERY CLOSE to Cincinnati Symphony's recording !!! Had to miss 1 extra canon blast in the victorious section as it was not in the score. Left out the quad-shot at the end as well. Would have been amazing if Tchaikowsky had included it !!!! Furthermore, the blasts were added IN POST in the recording. THESE WERE FIRED LIVE !!!!!
