Bandmaster... the amp I always wanted -- and never got. Great sound from that rig. In my peer group, rock guitarists shot for Bandmasters and Showman (or the Dual Showman), not the Deluxe or Twin. No Marshalls, either, despite Cream and Hendrix, and if you ever saw a Vox, it was like an amp version of a UFO, viewed with suspicion. I have fond memories of cranking out the Youngbloods' "Grizzly Bear" through an unreliable Bandmaster.
I got a blackface bandmaster and bought a mojotone 2x10 with jensen alnicos to go with it...they don't go well together...started running it through a celestion-loaded mesa 1x12 from the 80s instead and it absolutely crushes, go figure
@@mohamedtlass3842 I figured since the tremolux cab was a 2x10 and the bandmaster isn't that far removed from a tremolux, I could get away with that smaller cabinet...and for clean tones it works but any kind of distortion just sounds god aweful...maybe it would have worked out better with something like creambacks instead
Stereo jack for a stereo guitar or a mono splitter. You can also use a mono to stereo adapter plug into the stereo jack or use the channel 1 & 2 jack which is what was done here. Lots of options
@@tomsamps When I met Marshall Grant when I was 8 he told me the amp Luther used 1948 Sears Silvertone 1300 And yes I've met Marshall Grant a really nice fellow Howdy from North Carolina I've been playing guitar since I was 6 years old I'm turning 21 next month
At this point in time it’s a political statement or a way of self-identification! Or people who wearing it just in case the cops or cctv LOL It makes me laugh everytime I see a ghetto dawg wearing one loosely around his chin while his queen ain’t got one ! Like dude we know u in all kinds of game you ain’t wearin that because you wanna follow no government rules or whatever!
I haven’t seen too many Best speakers, but I had one in an Alamo Challenger that was a replacement. It sounded good, but I put a 16-ohm Weber 10 in it because the Best speaker measured 3.2k resistance and the output transformer was tapped at 16 ohms.
Just realized some of these seem to be labeled incorrectly as far as inputs/outputs- some have the stereo out option, though some seem to have 2 inputs instead. However, I just did a random test on mine (which is a ‘2 input’ version), thinking by chance that it was mislabeled - and IT IS! The second position input is actually the stereo output!!! True story. So if you have a model that reads with 2 inputs, try running the 2nd input OUT to a separate amp. Then you get the full and properly lush effect!
thanks for showing this amp in a good light and letting it breathe deeply. its been my main amp recording at home and occasional local gigs. A few mods, and its attained a great versatility without losing its characteristic charm ^_^ i love my 60 year old trash factory
You guys are BADASS!!! You always have the amps I've never heard before... THANK YOU!!! You guys contribute tons to the history of all of these obscure old amps!!!
Thanks for the kind words. You understand my collection is all about preserving and spreading the love for cool, forgotten pre-Marshall world amplifiers.
Best speakers for that old school warm but snappy marshall/Hiwatt sound! Use one in my deluxe reverb and with my '59 Dr.Z clone. Have access to many speakers. My favorite nothing comes close.
@@tomsamps mine was “affordable” but required quite the adventure into Northern Canada to retrieve! The scenery was great though and the amp has a vibrato remote control that plugs into the guitar output jack! Vox seems to have copied their vibrato circuit later on…
