Man, what a setup. Love the idea of the magnets up into the cheek pads and likely how I'll do it now so thanks for showing it! Have to mention the power bank on the back of the helmet, what a way to keep all the devices charged/powered.
Just got the Dart piranha for my '24 XSR900, their brackets took 10 seconds to instal, the whole kit was on in less than a minute. Thanks! Going to order the largest screen just to have it too!
While watching this video, i realized that my 2021 scout bobber was intermittently shutting off during extremely humid days. I hope Im not just letting my imagination run away with me. But this is annoying when Im enjoying a beautiful ride and out of the blue... and while in slow traffic.
I had a weird issue with Chin Mounts on my Shoei helmet where it would push up from the bottom. I switched to Moto Mounts version and I LOVE it. Have it on two of my helmets and love that mount. Thanks for the idea about the magnets.
NO. Shortly after I did the video Dart Flyscreens came out with the brackets specific to the 2023+ XSR900. Based on the pics I’ve seen their brackets looks similar to what I fabricated myself. The Marlin windscreen itself is identical to what I have. It is a simple and easy installation.
@@raisingcane225just want to thank you for your forum post and this video. It was thanks to you I opted for the dart windshield. So lovely to have feedback from the motorcycle community.
They look nice. but I cannot believe that you threw in almost 1k on SW motech bags lol I know the whole package is about 730. not sure how much the bags cost without carriers. They are little bit pricy imo. but quality is good. This reminds me my Harley saddle bags. They normally cost 1k. Thank you for sharing!
Hello, can you give me a time stamp for where the module you are talking about is? There are several things in there, amongst them the main fuse junction block
@@raisingcane225 I mean the module that is stuck to the bottom of the battery's box, at 3:09. An error showed up on my bike (520200-14) and my mechanic said it's that module that causes it.
@@zx7rkawa99 I believe it is a module that determines if the bike has tipped over and if so, shuts off power to the bike - it’s a safety device I. The even the bike has fallen over, for example in a crash. If you look up OEM Indian parts for a 2020 Scout Bobber it is in the subsection of “ELECTRICAL, COMPONENTS, ALL OPTIONS” and it is referenced as part 9 in the illustration; part number 4017165 “MODULE, LOAD/TIP OVER”. Listed at $204.99. The website I looked it up at is: www.indianpartsnation.com
lovely corbin seat; is this the stock for xsr900 ! One negative of the xsr as Shad does not support the top or pannier boxes with rails. WHY; when they have them for all of Triumph ? I'm in Thailand so getting a corbin seat; shipping and customs will be a 40% adder.
beautiful shots showing the taper that yamaha provided; for no reason. the flat big passenger seat is perfect shape; just needs more padding to be as hi; or higher. The comment about the hump being moved back-- YES why as driver doesnt need to sit on 15" of space . I'd make the passenger seat longer-imo
lovely. seems far better for passenger for width . length could be more as driver don't need all than room that sits vacant. the seat padding could have been like original; just wider. I dont need a complaining back seat driver
Yeah, storage under the seat is near non-existent. It’s too bad that there are not many economical options for storage on our bikes. I need a little space aboard, even for day rides and commutes with crap I carry around - camera gear, batteries, charge cables, tourniquet, etc. Although pricey the SW-Motech mount system and their various bag options seem to be the best.
@@raisingcane225 There's the Hepco and Becker c-bow system which is considerably cheaper, holds more, and has a crazy number of bag options from retro leather briefcases to leather cruiser bags to metal adv hard cases. Most are lockable.
@@tymobyrne4451 I found and installed a pair of Hepco and Becker panniers that I got off eBay, as I've hard hard panniers before and found them them conveniently water proof.
I have the same bike here in NY. I put a top case on it but the holder causes the side cases to mount a little wide. I enjoy having the top case to put my helmet in when I park and use as a little platform when getting ready for a ride. How do you secure your helmet when you park? Is the exhaust you put on a game changer? How is the comfort on that seat? I find the factory seat a little uncomfortable but I thought that was because I don't have enough "time in the saddle". I put on the performance damper, heated grips (NY) , a little windshield which I'm not crazy about the looks of it. I like the ride quality improvement of the damper at high and low speeds. I also put the 12v adapter on the handle bars and a battery tender hook up by the seat for heated gear.
Hello. I have my helmet set up with a DJI Osmo Action 4 and a 10,000 Mah battery on the back to charge it, as well as a Cardo PackTalk Edge (have a separate video up about all that). Because of that it’s kind of expensive and I never leave the helmet unattended with the bike. It’s a PITA but I carry it around - sometimes with a strap - a.co/d/3vn9BxO Theft is an issue here in Miami so I don’t risk leaving anything of real value on the bike or even in the storage bags. The Corbin is a little more comfortable than the stock seat. But I recently re-covered my stock seat with a Kelp Customs seat and had them add like a 1/8” extra padding - which probably does little. I really like the Kelpi and it’s not really uncomfortable - but I rarely ride more than a couple hours continuous without stopping for a stretch. The exhaust for me was a HUGE difference - both the sound and aesthetic. I had the ECU flashed - FlashedbyVCyclenut.com as well. The Dart Flyscreen I have works great. Don’t have a damper - do you mean like a steering damper? Take a look at some of my other vids. Happy to reply to any questions or comments. Enjoy your bike and stay safe!
@@speed433 I have both the Kelpi recover of the OEM shell and opted for a very slight additional foam layer under it when ordering, as well as the Corbin Gunfighter and Lady seat - see my separate video on that. Of the two the Corbin is a bit more comfortable and although I have yet to take a passenger for sure it will be more comfortable for a passenger than the Kelpi or stock seat. I like them both but having been using almost exclusively the Kelpi for several months now. I don’t find the Kelpi to be noticeably less comfortable than the Corbin and aesthetically I kind of prefer it when not using a tail bag. With a tail bag the Corbin is lower and flatter at the back and the tail bag will sit lower and protrude up less. If I didn’t have my SW-Motech side carriers and bags I would for sure use a tail bag and then it would be the Corbin for that reason. Give the stock seat some time - it’s not as bad as people say and you get used to it. Enjoy your bike, these are great machines. Stay safe.
SW-Motech is the brand, the specific model of the bags is their Legend Gear bags, the smallest ones in that size range. I have other videos with more info on them
I forgot to add, for these or any other of the SW-Motech saddlebags, also needed are the side carrier brackets. They call them SLC side carriers and one is needed for each side. The brackets and the bags are NOT cheap!!!
Sorry for the delay in reply. The ABS cases are water resistant, but not waterproof. Water can still get in through the zippers. The plastic roll-up bags that they come with are. An easy solution for these or any bags that aren’t water proof is Zip-Loc freezer storage bags. They re cheap, come in an array of sizes from 1 quart, 1 gallon and 2 gallon. I just put delicate stuff like camera equipment and batteries etc in side the Zip-Locs, and then put them in the SW-Motech bags.
Believe it or not I have a year with the bike now and have yet to take a passenger on it! I by myself have ridden for about 1-1/2 to 2 hours straight without a dismount at a a time on many occasions and a few times for around 7-8 hours cumulative in a single day but with multiple stops for fuel, stretch breaks, etc. That said, just looking at this Corbin compared to the stock - particularly the rear area where a passenger would sit, there is ALOT more seat space for the passenger than on the stock seat, which you can see is much narrower at the back and tapers. The Corbin is quite a bit wider - and note this is Corbin’s “Gunfighter and Lady” version - they make a different version for single riders. I’m certain this Corbin for a passenger would be more comfortable than the OEM seat. While I have a couple of potential passenger riders who might ride with me at some point, it’s not likely to be anytime soon, and even so it’s very unlikely to be a ride of over and hour or so.
Yes, the Urban ABS rigid cases attach and detach exactly as the Legend Gear versions do. The only difference in the attachment feature is that the Urban ABS ones on the INSIDE of the case have a “slide lever” where it locks the outside “detaching lever” mechanism from being able to be operated. The Legend bags do not have that locking capability. In other words once the Urban ABS is installed to the mount, with the case opened there is this lever that when moved yo the locked position will not allow the bag to be removed from the mount from the outside. The bag needs to be opened, the lever moved to the “unlock” position and then it can be removed. Understand the Urban ABS zip close and are made of lightweight ABS plastic, sort of like a lightweight carry on luggage. The zippers can be locked with their supplied lock (or some other small one suitable for luggage). But in terms of true security, these are not aluminum or steel and the ABS can be cut into and/or the small locks at the zipper points cut off. Anyone thinking the bags provide true security for valuables is unrealistic- but the Urban ones certainly are more secure than the Legends for sure. But the ease of removal and installation to the bike is the same with both versions. The Urban is quite a bit larger, and with two of them installed, the width overall of the bike is quite a lot larger than without the bags or compared to the Legends. For me since most of my riding is just short day rides, there is enough room for what I might need in the Legends and since they don’t lock at all, I don’t leave any particularly valuable things in them, or I can just take the bag off and take it and its contents with me. I hope to do a side by side comparison video of the two bags soon and will include measuring the width of the two different sets to each other installed on the bike. Hope this is of some help
Two things. The OEM exhaust got uglier and uglier every time I looked at it, and second it was just too quiet. This LV exhaust, with the baffle cut to about 1-3/4” long from its original size for me is the right balance between being a little louder and deeper tone but not obnoxiously loud and not with a monotonous drone like others I have heard.
Side note, how much would you say the helite vest and that armor costs? I am looking for the ultimate safety. would you recommend that combo or something else? I am in the Northeast
The Helite Turtle 2 vest costs about $680. Yes, it’s pricey but ai think it’s worth it. Look on RU-vid for a video by FortNine on airbag vests. He looks at several and concludes this one is the best. There are Chinese airbag vests at much lower cost but I wouldn’t have too much confidence in them. The Icon Field Armor Compression shirt is about $150. There are also many jacket options out there. Since I live in So Florida and the heat is so bad, I don’t often wear my dedicated motorcycle jacket, and sometimes not even the Icon Compression shirt. I do always wear the Helite, helmet, gloves and boots and also always use a Leatt 3DF 5.0 Impact shorts and Icon Field Armor 3 Knee guards ($130 and $95, respectively at Revzilla) which I wear under my jeans or pants. Most of my gear I get at Revzilla. Knock on wood, 30 years riding I’ve not ever crashed or gone down on the bike. But I am a believer in wearing as much protective gear as one can afford, as often and consistently as possible.
The dealership installed it as part of my purchase, but I believe it is an OEM Yamaha factory optional part. I think also there are similar aftermarket radiator guards.
Love your honest and thorough content. Good stuff for people looking into getting this bike because there is almost no videos describing any aftermarket
Yeah, at the beginning when I first got the bike I was planning to - or at most mod the OEM exhaust removing some of the baffle to make it slightly louder. But after seeing a video from Moore Mafia on this LV exhaust - both the improved aesthetics and much improved tone, I couldn’t resist. With the LV baffle in place, but cut to around 2” it’s original length, it’s got the sound I want - neither too loud or too quiet.
I don’t own a Hollyland Lark but looking at them on Amazon it looks like they have a couple of different models. The Hollyland Lark MAX appears to have on its microphone/transmitters a metal clip with a circular magnet - similar to the DJI Mic. I think any similar mic with a metal clip on the mic could work with a magnet installed into the padding of a helmet the way I have it in the video.
