Hi I'm Nicholas, I am an ASE certified auto technician from Ohio. I'm freaky fast! I do lots of different work on different types of cars. I love what I do and where I work, I hope you enjoy my videos!
Replacing the tranny because the EV motor is bad? I need to do the same and I don't have a lift. I wonder if it is easier to hoist both engine and tranny out from top and swap the tranny. Of course CV axles, inverter, exhaust, and all the hoses need to be removed and disconnected. I see wiring harness can come out with engine. I also see I can drop the AC compressor and let it hang. That way, at least no need to drop the subframe. I can't drop engine or tranny from the bottom as I don't have a lift. So, my choices are hoisting tranny out or hoisting both engine + tranny out from top. No anchor points to hoist tranny only out with good way to manipulate it so I guess hoisting both out and do the swap of tranny is my best option.... Any comment welcome.
Just had some problems with my Transmission on my 2011 Hyundai Sonata. Seeing this will definitely respect the Mechanics who have to go through to put a new used one in my car. I've recently been having trouble accelerating and can't get any speed. The Shop Manager said I did nothing wrong and it's best to replace it
At 19:23 , can someone tell me where that wire goes down to ? Doing an engine on a 2014 and absolutely do not remember if this wire bolts down to the starter or somewhere else. Is there 2 wires that go to the starter? Because I have one already bolted to it. And he doesn’t show him pulling out the starter in this video. Help
Are you supposed to use some blue loctite on these bolts? I had to reinstall the 4eat transmission in my 2.5L subaru, and I put these bolts in fairly tight when I reinstalled the transmission, but like a month later the engine had to come out, and when I went to take out the torque converter bolts, two of the four were loose! And I KNOW for sure I tightened all four.
Actually seems like a pretty well thought out setup, doing a clutch on one of these today. great vid edit: took 5-6 hours, pretty well thought out design
Can you remove the Hybrid system and replace it with a transmission from a non-hybrid car? I'm sure the PCM and TCM would need to be replaced/reprogrammed. Just wondering if it's a cheaper alternative to keep these cars going longer.
I have no sound but l can see why you are replacing this 2015 Hyundai engine how horrible are Kias and Hyundai's there are so many you tube videos to do with Hyundai and Kia engines none of them good they absolute piles of junk well my 1997 Toyota Hilux with 437000 kilometres on it is perfectly fine and probably will never have to be replaced at least for another 27 years
Hey I know this is an old post but I had at question. At -23:10 minutes, what is that cable you are pulling out from the top? Looks like you just use a screwdriver to unhook it
