Green looked great, he and Brandon would make a very good midfield pivot. Defense looked decent too (McGowan and Montano were cutting out everything) and some good passing and movement from the midfield for Muirhead's goal. My only real gripe is the insistence on long balls to Yengi, really brought down the quality in the second half.
Wimbledon 1988 won the FA Cup mate. Here’s a question about today… why did Montano take goal kicks short to Shamal only for him to kick it long? That caught Yengi offside where a straight goal kick long from Shamal wouldn’t have. Second question why do we pack the box defending corners giving ourselves no out ball? Basic stuff that we simply aren’t doing. Olly Green looks like he could be an unearthed gem, tremendous performance from him today, clearly the MotM regardless of the sponsors decision to give it to Kelly (who wasn’t bad but wasn’t MotM).
Robbie Muirheads finish was great because, he chased it in. Rarely we had seen this previous, something we've screamed for without realising it. Pleasing to see. Second half however wasn't great but, glad we got the 3 and essentially through to the knockout rounds.
Feedback from the West Stand. Pros: good movement & pases. Created loads chances. Cons - Parts of the game we resembled Wimbledon fc 1988. Too many punts up the park giving the ball away. Out ofour control - Officials haven't had a good pre-season and were shocking as a result
Davie, you haven't let the club down. The club had 6 years in the premier league with a toxic ownership structure, no money, and a tiny fan base. That's not letting the club down - it's a remarkable outperformance, and all that's happened is reality has finally caught up with us. It’s not the end of the world. You’ve been busy making some good signings and I’m looking forward to seeing us show the Championship some Livi tenaciousness.
Oooooooohhh Brucie Brucie; Brucie Brucie Brucie Brucie Anderson...... You'll always be one of our own. Good luck on your onward journey, and please remember us.
Having followed the club for over 20 years through highs & lows, it's disappointing the fan base is so low. There's more people go to the shopping centre on a Saturday than they can get through the turnstiles. Imo the club do little more than zero to attract fans. In a town of circa 80k people surely with aggressive marketing and putting themselves out there, there's no reason they can't get 6000 home fans at every home game. They're simply not trying hard enough. Must do better. I'd like to see DM stay at the club.
I agree that by budget and fan numbers we're a Championship side and did well to say up for 5 or is it 6 seasons but I can't help wonder why we didn't play Stephen Kelly more throughout the season. People complained about Nouble being played but I understand why... he attracts opposition players to him thereby creating space for our other forwards and sometimes looks like he had a goal in him but often he didn't. And Guthrie was just the striker who couldn't score. Andrew Shinney had some great games and Holt rarely had anything other than very good games. Penrice and Montana two of our best but not always available. The back line just weren't good enough. There is an element of luck and it didn't smile on us this year, especially with injuries. Looking forward to the Championship. Hope we at least get into the play offs for promotion. I'm happy to have a local team to support. Hope we're ok after the court cases have been concluded.
It was good to see Stepehen Bradley and Joel Nouble have their best games of the season, but some players need some fine tuning. Sean Kelly needs to learn to defend his side of the box. Instead of backing off and watching the cross come in, he should commit to a challenge. Montano is an excellent offensive player with great potential, but his defensive roll is equally important. We need to defend our box better next season. Too much gets through - even I can see this and I know nothing about football. All said, though, after the first 20 minutes we played like a Livingston side, and it was really good to see even though we are already relegated.
