The authors need to learn a little more about the military rank and protocols. Tyler was a Sargent, a Non Commissioned Officer. Unless he was granted a Field Commission, which is done in the field of combat when all other officers are down, would not have had the command authority over anything but his squad. He would not be able to command a ship or even a shuttle without training and rank. Perhaps the data pad communicated this, but the story never mentions this. Yeah, I know, it's just a story.

When I run this title thought ChatGTP and ask it to come up with a story using, it sometimes the victim is a boy, sometimes a girl. About 50/50 . The fact that in every one of these HFY stories, the victim is always a boys leads me to the conclusion you all outright tell the AI to make the victim a boy. There is no other excuse...
Actually there's loads 1. most are the same exact story with names swapped 2. AI systems are programmed by people therefore they make mistakes just like we do. 3. Not many want to hear about a girl being tortured, it's a reprehensible idea and the thought alone is uncomfortable especially if they are innocent 4. There's actually loads of them just look it up ya goof
