This game is mainly about fantasising. When you play alone away from the camera, You don't even have to talk, you can play in absolute silence. Just imagine the scene in your head, filling it with details at will, as if you were watching a film scene (gestures, expressions, 'shots'). It is the real theatre of the mind. It is a type of game for which one needs to be 'suited' or at least to practise a little, not just sit at the table and read the rules as with classic TTRPGs.
I bought D100 Dungeon Book 1 but not another product from MK Games. Martin Knight will not get another penny of my money. To many other designers out there with better games and much better attitude to the people who actually support them. I'll stick to 4AD and the 4AD series of games. Have you played the Mythos version of 4AD?
FYI: Corridor exits are always arches. (Not that you rolling for doors hasn't made your Dungeons more interesting). Also, it looks to me like you should roll for each door being locked or not individually, not for all exits in the room at once. But you be you. :-)
Thats ridiculous on their part bro. Just dump it and move on. There are plenty of way fun games out there. No need to support a complete tool. I spend a ton on games and now there will be none spent on their stuff. Just dang.
The wizard cant cast flare against the leader because he is next to him it is a ranged spell. So he needs to move one space away before casting. Also you keep forgetting everybody has 2 AP. Dont worry you will get it in time lots of crunchyness in this game but lots of fun. 🙂 When anybody is down to half health then they are wounded and only get 1 AP
I don't remember hearing about the d100 games you mentioned. Just that little bit that you talked about it sounded interesting. Maybe I'll look up some of your videos later. Cheers
Great Video. Do you have a favorite of all the games you played that are this style of game? curious as I can't buy them all so need to prioritize my spending.
Between 4AD and 2D6, it's a hard call. I like the complexity of 2D6 with its variety of creatures and especially it's map-making tools in Dungeon and Realms. For sheer sit down and quick play a dungeon crawl, 4AD does a good job with minimal extra steps.
one thing about armor in 2d6 is that it can block up to 4 dice at once now there are only 2 4 dice armors i know of (these are armors in the default armor table and i only know base dungeons so if more is a specific reward i might not have encountered it and if there was armor introduced by lairs or realms i do not know it) and they do clash when it comes to equip slot but you can equip a 4 die armor with a 3 die armor and a 2 die armor meaning you are blocking 9 die if there is no die clash or 5 primary die and 4 secondary die can be protected at once (i have theorized at least one combination that can do this) this means that the six slots for armor might not be enough now i have not encountered anything which boosts a specific die on a piece of armor so 12 slots is probably(probably yes this bears repeating) the most you need, you simply need to get inventive with the grouping of dice like three different colors 1 being primary 2 being secondary and three being modifier plus a rule for deciding which dies correspond to which modifier like by designating a order to the slots and saying all die before the modifier in that order belong to that die
This is the first Video of yours that I have seen, and now I'm a subscriber and plan to watch your other videos and hopefully discover some games I have seen or heard of and possibly add more games to my own collection. sorry about the raw deal you got here, but I look forward to not only watching your current collection of videos but also the ones to come.
Well, that took d100 off my list. I currently play Ker Nethalas and have been looking for a sci-fi game and some more fantasy ones. It just narrows my search a bit more. I think companies have forgotten the concept of free advertising, which is what these playthrough videos provide.
Newer sub here. Will be working on your backlog soon. Will you be making the updated side board available? Definitely ordering the mini displays I saw in the other video.
I wish Toby would license the card to you so you could cut spots for the two turn dice. Oh, and a cover that fit over it and held everything in place so that when $BOSS informs that dinner time has arrived, it can be stored safely without fear of losing ones position/counts :)
I do send to the UK and various other parts of the world - please email me at jimsworkshop@fastmail.com with your mailing address and I'll send you a shipping quote.
No cup holder? 😂 I may have to skip a couple lunches to get one. This looks great. Would it be possible to do an isert to hold the round and shift die on the card in their spots? So a thin border to hold the card down and still read, but to have an outline to hold an 18mm d6?
If I keep changing it, people are gonna get upset :) It's locked down, but maybe I can come up with a piece to drop into that with some writing on it? Let me play with it, but for right now I need to just get some wood ordered :)
@thetabletopengineerplays oh definitely was thinking it be a drop in piece since gotta put card down first. Even if not done still a great piece of work.
D100 Space is easily broken with a high intelligence. I just kept passing navigation checks and selling stuff between planets. D100 Dungeon is too reliant on strength. Low stat checks are almost impossible to make.
I don't go onto gaming discord, reddits, or facebooks anymore. I've been banned from many of them. Mostly for "political reasons" even though i don't talk about politics. I would talk about the setting in the game and relate it to factual textbook historical records in discussions about the setting. (happened the most with European Fantasy settings) Even though i kept my historical statements purposefully nuetral, admins would get mad that i was being nuetral rather than parroting whatever ideology they subscribed to.
First time hearing about this D100 game and will be the last time I take any interest in it. Its sad when a company just looks at the small picture instead of the larger perspective.
Osprey has a wealth of historical board games and rule sets. As you said, Undaunted 2200 is the Sci-Fi evolution of the historical Undaunted series. Just FYI, in historical board games the cardboard pieces representing soldiers, vehicles, etc. are called ‘counters’ not tokens.
Shouldn't you be able to autoskip battles you have 100% chance of winning? In that first battle at 4:30 your warrior was at +3 so even if you rolled a 1 the minimum number of vermins you could kill during that first attack was 4, then even if you rolled ones with the other three characters you could have killed the remaining 2 vermins. In summary, there was a 100% of chance of winning that battle.
@@thetabletopengineerplays thanks for answering, I truly appreciate it. I've been struggling to understand the fail when rolling a 1 rule, the book is not clear (or rather I didn't find it clear enough) and I see people throwing the terms "natural" and "unmodified" around so I thought you could bypass this rule by having modifiers. Now I have a better understanding of the rule, thanks once again!
It's a shame a game you love was soured for you, but there's plenty of games out there (my backlog of games I'd like to cover would take me five years of solidly releasing videos to get to!) and plenty of designers deserving of the support of us RU-vidrs. One of the best things about this (as you say rather low-paid) gig is introducing people to cool games and knowing that you've played a part in bringing them to a wider audience. So I get the rule four stings. But onwards and upwards. Whatever doesn't kill ya, etc etc 🙂
