I like the part about students "self-selecting" to move themselves to a lower level course if they feel they need the review. A big part of the problem with remedial math (I taught it for ten years) is that you don't move forward in your degree unless you take that required course and get a passing grade in it. Making remedial classes optional and available as needed would be a big improvement. Let the students decide for themselves.
I'm moving from 5th grade to TK this year. It is hard to learn a new grade-level while simultaneously taking 12 units each semester to get my 24 ECE units. I wish there was a better way. I know it is going to be an overwhelming year, but worth it in the end.
The first encampment started at Columbia University in response to a congressional hearing about antisemitism on college campuses in response to the Israel-Hamas war. Any participant in an encampment is supporting antisemitism or is an idiot.
I've just moved into a five-bedroom house quite close to this place. Hmmm.....School for the Deaf. So there will be noise or there won't be noise? Difficult one to work out.
Thank you for hosting this! Holding on to ineffective practices will hurt low-income minority children the most. I will never understand why the CTA is against this. I hope it’s not because the CTA is receiving funds/bribes from publishers selling those ineffective programs!

I used to live in lucerne for about 20 yrs or so since the 80's its grown alot and then again it hasnt grown at all .. there was a time when Nancy foot the real estate lady with one arm and the sheriff beto would rent peoples house out to a person they knew was on parole for meth related charges and after renting them the house the next day Sargent beto would cruz up and tell them they better be out by the morning when he came back or els he would find some meth there and back to prison they would go and he would tell them you dont get your deposit back and you dont get this months or thr rent they paid for two months in advance back if they didnt do what he said then he would make shure they whent back ti prison on a new meth case and that the state took there kids. The reson they did this was so they could tell the owners who lived some where else like LA or even oitta state that the renters where cooking meth and the house was considered condemned from the chemicals that where used to make meth and that it would have to be totaly tore down and rebuilt befor they coukd rent it out again so the owhers whould put the house up for sale after nancy foot sugested it would be the best thing and of course she would handle that for thf owner.but thr owners never cdme up there to look them selfs and take her word on it. Thats when beto and her put there money together and started buying up lucerne valley.
I believe in second chances, but really? He does not sound at all remorseful, but entitled. His victim died the most horrible death, yet he enters the one of the best universities in CA, all on govt's dime. Kids work their behinds off trying to enter that school. How woke can CA get?
This ma'am has been studying and wanting to be a good example to the youth for many years I lived with him for a few years and I know how sincere he is .
He was a kid on the lookout He didn’t pull the trigger and probably never had a clue a precious soul would be taken from Earth. Californians passed the law. He didn’t break out. He was released.
True for many survivors, but not for all. From what I garnered: He was a kid on the lookout He didn’t pull the trigger and probably never had a clue a precious soul would be taken from Earth. Californians passed the law. He didn’t break out. He was released.
Adelante!! More power to you! I’m a product of East LA during the 60’s and 70’s. Fortunately, I was guided towards education. This is the path to your dreams!! Keep it up 👍
This is amazing! Thank your for sharing your story and pushing higher education for those incarcerated. Change is possible and the statistics are proof that #onelesscriminal #onelesscrime !!
I was mad when I first watched this "I didn't get a free ride at UCI, and never committed any crimes" ... but now I'm OK with it. He's getting a degree in social ecology -- NOW HE IS THE VICTIM --- LOL
I'm sorry but your were involved in the murder of an innocent person. You don't deserve a second chance. If God lets you into heaven that's your second chance. Sorry, I despise anyone who kills innocent people.
There are many challenges when preparing for TK specially now that schools are short staffed and are moving teachers without an Early Learning background to TK to fill the gap. Although doing an assessment is not a requirement yet, the CDE is looking into fully implement it by 2025. Many School Districts are already getting prepared once this is mandated by the state, so one resource they are exploring is Learning Genie for TK. This has a very complete and powerful way to assess and to compare the children's progress. Also we are using their TK curriculum, so it makes things much easier for us with their lessons and activities.
Oh, California has around 17k students ,but only 2% of them attended deaf schools at Riverside and Fremont. CSDF and CSDR would have much larger school if many of 17k students go to either school instead of public schools.
The new framework is racist and assumes black and brown kids fon'tvhave the ability to do math. I am so glad I graduated when I did. Let's say a prayer for kids today.

I have taught Kindergarten in California for the past 6 years. Next school year, I'll be moving to TK. I am excited to actually teach Kindergarten as it was meant to be instead of what feels like 1st Grade to Kindergarten-age students.
THE PROBLEM IN DEAF OR REGULAR COCHLEAR IMPLANTED PROGRAM SCHOOLS IS THAT THEY DONT RESPECT THE PARENTS PRIVACY AND ALOT OF TIME FORCE AND ABUSE PARENTS AND KIDS. THEY FORCE KIDS AND PARENTS TO WEAR IMPLANT AT THE END OF THE DAY IS THE KID THE WEARS IT HE MAY FEEL UNCONFORTABLE ONE DAY OR NOT BUT I BELIEVE THATS THEIR CHOICE AS A FAMILY NOT A SCHOOL OR PROGRAM ‼️
US isn't required to support everyone that comes here or tries to come. These things don't always work out. Trumps policies were better but should have been even more restrictive. They seem nice people and I wish them well but not everyone should be allowed to come here
Go do your post doc. somewhere else. Go teach somewhere else. No consideration for the students paying tons of money. Typical liberal run organization, a total dysfunctional bureaucracy…
