An Artist in her garden, learning and growing through RU-vid. Est April 2020
I started my RU-vid journey as a way to journal the changing seasons in the garden, something to look back on and admire.
I am an Artist, Watercolour painting, this is where the name comes from!
I live in southern Ontario, Canada. Growing zone 5b. Our growing season is about 140 days with a short cool spring followed by hot humid summers, our first frost date is usually early October and could have snow in November but typically snowfall happens December through March. We live in the country on 3 acres with a pond we swim in and enjoy feeding the Koi. Most of the property is wooded, I have 9 raised garden beds for vegetables. Our gardens around the house were established when we moved in (2016) with Perennial shrubs, flowers and lots of Hostas. I have been adding my own style to the garden each season.

Hi thanks for the lovely video. I have a willow tree and wisteria vines. I'm looking to create a protection around small evergreen plugs that are in a field that is visited by all sorts of wildlife. Do you think what you've show us will be enough for that?

Hi there! I am looking at these structures and I'm wondering, how do you think they will fare in heavy winds? What are your thoughts on placing this on a wooden ish surface? I am so new to this.

I bought 2 of them two years ago. I didn't even blow them out for the winter and they were fine. We went down to -23 this year. Loved these. So convenient. Today I discovered that one of them has a hairline crack in the connector. No duct tape fix for that one. Epoxy probably wouldn't work either. I'm currently looking to replace the connector but I can't seem to find the part. I see on the Home Depot reviews area that this is happening to a lot of people. It's hard plastic so really no surprise...but why is there no replacement part available. ps. I, to, paid $50, now I see they are $24.98.

Way to go! You climbed the ladder even though you were scared. That takes courage. I broke my arm last year just falling from a standing position, so I'm a little nervous too!

Awwwwww...mommy's cooking pizza! Very cool. We are going to build the base tomorrow, then the greenhouse on Sunday. Let's hope it goes smoothly. Ours is rectangular. It's in the 30s to 40s here in Wisconsin, so hopefully it will be cooler in the greenhouse than your experience, lol. We will see! Your video was once again helpful.

I have so many of these jugs. My plan is to use them to start my veggies in. Would it be the same as your plants? How do you water? If for some reason there is going to be a cold snap after I start them what should I do with them? They will be out on a deck getting mostly sun.

We have pigs, cows, horses and various other critters. We've also been using the panels for our garden for years. In our area the difference is the cattle panels are 52 inches x 16 ft, and the hog panels are 34" x 16' and, like you showed, have smaller openings. There are also sheep panels that have smaller squares, so they can't get their heads through. Their are 3 different heights depending on what kind of panel it is. oh and horse panels are 60" high, x 16ft, are much stronger(thicker and better grade of metal) and the squares are 4"x4" so their hooves cannot get stuck (standard horses and larger)

Why don't you plant some willow and dogwood.......? You have the branches for cuttings from you gatherings! Where you want to grow them just make some shovel slits in the ground, place some sand, then your cuttings, and water, they will grow.

Wow, my eyes were glued to the screen. You're a incredible teacher. Your voice allowed all of us to actually hear every word. No whispering ha ha. I do not have dog wood or willow, but my next door neighbor has Wisteria that runs every where ,for years, I've made Xmas wreaths and other do hickeys . So now you've given me more ideas. As soon as the sun comes up tomorrow I'll trying my luck making the obelisk. Thanks a million. God bless. I'll let you know how it turned out
