Owner update, 100,000 miles. Bank 1 Exhaust and Intake VCTs were replaced at around 90,000 miles due to solenoid actuation failure on the exhaust side. Code was P0012. Running exclusively E-85 with no noticeable spark knock or pre-ignition. Occasionally run a tank of regular 85 Octane (Colorado). Still running exclusively Ford Motorcraft 5W-20. No other maintenance issues.
I recently bought a 2019 ford f 150 with the 5.0 it only had 28,000 miles on it and I bought the v8 cause I planned on owning this truck for 20 years. I run regular gas 87 and it makes this noise. Is there anything the dealer can do to fix? I have a full warranty but I don't think they will do anything.
I have a 2019 f-150 5.0L it’s been making this noise since new. I took it to the dealer and they said they couldn’t hear anything.. go figure.. I told them to print out the report and give it to me so I have something to cover my ass if something decides to blow up.
E-85 or Premium is what I was told by the dealership. Reference owners manual and stay on top of oil changes. Ford Motorcraft only for best performance.
Enjoying watching you take laps off the summit chair. Why do snow many snowboarders sit down to strap in tho I don't get it. I hate having a wet cold ass.
Hey Will. How many miles are you at now with the 5.0? I’m currently at 52k and fighting the ping/ or valve clatter. Going to run a tank of E85 and see how she sounds. Most of the noise I hear comes on acceleration. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thx
Owner update, 75,000 miles. 2 more long cross country road trips towing 5-8k lbs. Most of the noises go away with 91+ Octane Premium or E-85, which is what I run exclusively. It will run fine on lower octanes but I get lots of pinging and chatter under the hood. So far the worst octane has been E-15 (Only ran one tank). Oil changes every 5k miles. Ford Motorcraft 5W-20 exclusively, usually have to add about 1-2 quarts in between changes. Absolutely no mechanical issues. Truck is driven daily in varying conditions.
My 2018 has 54,000 miles and just started doing this, I was worried I had an intake valve problem. It drives me crazy, I don’t like pinging noises coming from what is supposed to be an awesome engine.
Owner update at 65,000 miles. Absolutely no problems from the engine relating to these noises. One long cross-country USA road trip and many highway, city and overlanding/ offroading miles out west over the past 15k. Run premium or E-85 exclusively and regular oil changes and maintenance every 5k miles. Motorcraft engine oil only and OEM Ford filters.
Still running 93 octane? I’m experiencing the same noise at lower RPM from 3rd on the way up. Usually about 1200-1500 rpm. If I drive really easy like a grandpa it won’t hope but some light acceleration and it will happen. Don’t notice it when I’m stepping on the gas hard. Been running 87 octane and am considering using only 93 now.
@@C_Brucehard Chad I am running E-85 now and have noticed considerable improvement. The noise is no longer present. 83k miles. Ford Motorcraft Oil and filter every 5000.
