Handling these ships takes a fine ship handler and this Marine Pilot I’m proud to say is my amazing, skilled husband. He kept this ship on the straight and narrow last night. Well done my man…well done ❤❤ Thank you to Gen Sterenberg for your excellent videography!! 😊
It’s so nice knowing a part of her lives on to be enjoyed for many years. A permanent retirement for her that is a good one. She not totally scraped . Thank god that there are many videos of her sailing on the lakes to watch . ❤
I live in Georgia and I can't even imagine having to work in those conditions. I did construction work growing up but NOTHING like what I'm seeing in this video,,, BRRRRRRR!!!!
Thanks for posting. Nice shot passing the upbound Oberstar and great to hear the salutes. Years ago the freighters used to always signal each other before passing. You could hear them a mile away inland.
Not brand new. This tug is the former Joseph H Thompson Jr. which was constructed from the steel of the stern of the steamer Joseph H Thompson (the stern was removed when the ship was converted into a barge). The tug Joseph H Thompson Jr. then pushed the barge Joseph H Thompson from 1991 until 2019 when the Joseph H Thompson Jr. was rebuilt to accommodate Vanenkevort's new barge, the Michigan Trader. The barge Joseph H Thompson is now pushed by the tug Laura Vanenkevort.
