i love how unquantized and "human" the human beat box is.. those tiny little fluctuations in tempo are what gave it spirit and vibe, and for them to all be able to follow along means there was a real visceral (human) connection.. their management also really has to be commended. the helped shaped the fat boys overall identity into something memorable and unique.
They were signing contracts for that little bit of money back then and it saddened me to learn these atrocities took place back then and as hard as it was back then for rappers to get that Whitney money but they were selling just as many records you getting hundreds and the label making millions yeah I said hundreds against millions and that is so sad maybe my mother knew what she was doing when I turned my 100 thousand dollar contract and she was right cuz when you do the math a hundred thousand dollars over six years was worse than a civil service workers salary with no benefits damn they were robbing people back then and it was sad and I only would get like eleven cents an album so you would have to swing high for the fences if not you were getting sued and would be in industry turmoil for the next 20 years and never heard of again some took their own lives the industry is wicked maybe God saved me cuz I probably would still owe but the record was strong but could I put together an album that would be equivalent to the single and I thought no cuz the song they wanted from me I hated it meaning I thought I had better material but they wanted my R and B track not my street shit and I didn't wanna do a Daddy Kane in reverse mode so I bowed out sadly but now I go praise no... Praise The Lord Amen
These guys were the best in the beginning and they never said what killed doctor Rock they just shoved that under the rug I'll never forget that episode of hot tracks and they were going accapella I was looking at how lost doc looked I knew he was lip syncing of course and I knew loyalty was keeping him in the group but at the time he was utterly useless with the digital age taking over it was just a matter of time so I'm sure and later confirmed that they gave him some dough not much and told him disappear cuz dee jays not named grandmaster flash were no longer useful and that's sad cuz doctor Rock was a big name in the streets as far as dee jaying went. They were so talented I'll never forget that summer 84 when we all were in Coney Island performing and they were there and Jesse Dee was starving which had me wondering about the industry actually it was the contest that birthed stetsasonic cuz they won that contest on the strength of Wise their beat box he ripped it and the fat boys were the shit around that time and Doug E Fresh was practically a nobody cuz nobody really remembered him for beat street his first movie debut and bit of shine but beat boxes is what was killing the crowd back then cuz the human beat box Buffy was a new phenomenon and he was my girl first cousin and we never saw him again but she told me they used to diss him about his weight but they learned where a person may be lacking in life God sees all and reached out and blessed this kid's life but unfortunately he didn't live longer to enjoy his life and build on his legacy God bless Darren Robinson you markie dee and Kool rock will never be forgotten shout out in heaven to Prince Markie Dee....Fat Boy's forever
Troop is still my favorite group all time. I grew up with them. And will always listen to their music. Glad to see them older and still able to be together in the end. RiP Reggie

😮😮😮🤨they didn't like Allen and wanted him out the group😪Oh my goodness. So they all hated Allen. I mean taking Steve and Rodney's girl I would be pissed too for a little while but hell who wouldn't want to be Allen's girl. But I wasn't there and don't know them personally but some things said I didn't agree with. Like, the guy saying, " Allen would wear jogging pants under the costumes because he didn't like his size." You can tell when a person is wearing extra clothes, you know how girls are pregnant and don't want their mother to know so they try to hide the pregnancy. From the performances I saw Allen didn't seem like he wore multiple clothing. Plus they were young, their metabolism was high and all that dancing they were doing who wasn't going to be slim. Then Jon Jon saying," he wanted more singing parts" why not address that to the songwriters or Steve. According to Steve he was the only one in the studio all the time.
I can understand all points of view some of the things Allen did would've pissed me off to. Like pulling a gun on someone because he took your parking spot, or like you said stealing group members' girls. But even though his decision to get the group to be under Louis' management ultimately cost the group their record deal I can understand why he did it if I'm borderline broke and one of the group members making bank somewhere else I'ma try to get some of that. At the same time I understand Steve because if me and you don't get along you don't even call me and now I'm making money you wanna be best friends I'ma look at you with a side eye. Now as far as Jon I think at first he didn't mind as much but as they recorded more and more albums and he barely got to lead a whole song by himself it started to slowly get to him especially since he knew he could sing.
From 1990 until 1991, Kid 'n Play image was made into merchandise as their faces were on T-shirts, posters, lunchboxes, and even dolls. In that time, they even had an NBC Saturday Morning cartoon show, also entitled Kid 'n Play, that lasted 1 season, and 13 episodes. A 1992 Marvel Comics comic book did a tie-in based on the cartoon lasted nine issues.
I do not own this footage showing for entertainment purposes only if you want to watch the full video here's the link ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FuEWtY6qz7k.html
One of my favorite groups of all time. I stumbled upon "Lady in my life" joint and was gonna fanboy all in the comments section but the comments were turned off. To me, Troop rivaled New Edition. Y'all remember how Johnny Gill joined NE and their sound seemed to mature? Well I always felt like that's what John John did for Troop. He put that stank on it with them grown man ass vocals that legitimized the group to me as R&B legends.
In 1993 I met Kid'n'Play the light-skinned one was so humble and nice but the dark-skinned 1 was ignorant and so mean to us kids😂 he act like he didn't want to sign autographs I'm glad he might have humbled his self up now but back then he was an a******😂😂
