Coach I had our semi pro players doing settle and noose then pat n go. We are doing all the throws you've mentioned and it translated to our 7v7. We ran mesh rail and the QB hit the OTB but the OTB was covered and then the wr settled away from the defender and scored a TD. Then I saw back shoulder throws and the players told me Coach what we work on translated. Felt good to see

Love the video Coach! QB run game is such a weapon in HS football!
@coachd6477
@coachd6477 2 месяца назад
Another question for you coach, maybe you can do a video on it. I think a lot of spread guys get caught up with clearing out the box and throwing everything outside where the faster, better coverage guys are. How would you attack and exploit inside linebackers with passes? I absolutely kill them in 7v7 where I can run option routes down the middle on them with rbs. I think we let them off the hook a lot in the passing game though in tackle.
@VWLIKEWHOA
@VWLIKEWHOA 2 месяца назад
I wouldn't throw over the middle unless you have a really good QB. It tends to be really congested and hard to make tight throws. At youth and even HS level most offensees are 1 read and you want it clean as possible. If you see something and you wanted to sneak one in you could do some sort of stick concept at 7-8yds behind the LB or a seam with the TE vs singe high safety. Hope any of this helps good luck coach

Awesome coach! Anyone can draw up great concepts on the board but that film of the 1st drive really tells the story. If you could only run 1 formation for a whole game. What would it be and why? I’m sure other coaches would love a video on that.
@CoachMitchJohnson
@CoachMitchJohnson 3 месяца назад
I appreciate that coach! We try to do our bread and butter, what the kids do well, and what helps us get a key on some things from the defensive mindset and gameplan. I might have to do a video on that. For me it would be trio which for us is trips to 1 side and a tight end nub on the other. Would I be able to arrange the trips with different tags and it still be same base formation? Haha
@coachd6477
@coachd6477 3 месяца назад
@@CoachMitchJohnson 1 formation lol. I like trips as well. I think I would be keep it open to get that 1v1 wr matchup on the backside but trips seems like the way to go. @CoachMitchJohnson
@CoachMitchJohnson 5 месяцев назад
Hey coach, so we have built in rules based on WRs (1/2/3) but then I do have tags. We keep the amount of runs down and using a wristband we can tag up to 5 different RPOs for runs. That way we can play fast, lots of formations, using motion, and be able to take what the defense is giving us

@@CoachMitchJohnson if you lay out a presentation like you did in the video then Just Play. If you are sketching ideas down then Hudl. I really enjoy our Just Play set up. We have a master playbook (every possible call) that only the coaches see. Then each week during the season we will make study guides for the players to review with the concepts and a video short of a in game clip and a overhead drone practice rep. There is a lot you can do with it and I personally believe it’s a better studying tool than Hudl. Isn’t user friendly at first though.

Do you have advice for someone who has no experience in football but wants to get into coaching? What’s the first thing I should do or who should I ask?
@CoachMitchJohnson
@CoachMitchJohnson 5 месяцев назад
First thing to do is to reach out to any of the local schools (whatever level) talk to the Head Coach and see if they have any opening whether paid or not paid. Then I would make sure to get certifications (concussion, coaching, AED/First Aid) because you will need that no matter what. But then just start studying up on football X & O's! But the biggest thing is to understand your why and that it should be fun!!
@downinthebend2670

Good video coach! I wonder if faking the blocks on key or bubble and running go's could be an effective change up. Do you motion the h on arrow rpos ever? Peak rpo is really cool. How clean of a read is that for the qb?
@CoachMitchJohnson
@CoachMitchJohnson 6 месяцев назад
I just answered a couple of those questions in the vide that will be uploaded soon about our screen game. I do like screen n go's. Yes we can motion the H for the arrow; you just have to see how the defense handles that long motion with H. Its a read that we see in the box or on the ipads and then only call it when we want him to throw it.

Good question, no I have never done that. I usually try to keep the center focused on protecting A gaps and good snaps to the QB if I’m being honest. But I do like your insight and point!
