"A channel featuring my favorite Motown Deep Cuts with videos highlighting a few great Motown hidden gems. But also featured here are videos for some classic radio jingles from the classic 60s era of Top 40 Radio. AND... a few other favorites from Country, Jazz and even Easy Listening artists. I'm also a big fan of Saul Bass and his work in title sequence, so many of my videos try to capture just a bit of that flavor.

Rest in peace WCBS AM. I live in Denver Colorado, never been to New York. I was able to pick up WBBM during the nighttime. Its amazing that 88 WCBS AM and 78 WBBM AM used the same jingle package.

I have to wonder - did Heller do the CBS News TOH radio sounder first used in 1968-69 and, in that original form, last through about 1983?

The series came out in 1964, so I'm going to assume KIOA had these that year. Sometimes a station might buy a series a year or so later but we'll just say 1964.

@Tomovox_PAMS_Radio_JIngles 7 дней назад
My thinking is that there wasn't a blockbuster, a best-selling hit that could have carried a Greatest Hits album at the time. I'm saying this in terms of sales and the economics of the music business and not as a fan. I'm also thinking about how "The Marvelettes Greatest Hits" album was originally scheduled for sometime in '64, but the group was in a slump at the time. Then when they got a massive resurgence with "Don't Mess With Bill", there was a bonafide hit to ensure the album would sell to larger numbers. Now as a fan, I'm thinking "Needle" may have gotten people to buy the album but I don't know if the mass public was familiar enough with any of the other singles to get an album moving off the racks. In the end I'm just speculating all over the place!

The reason why...is because the song wasn't very good. Compared to the stuff Martha and the Vandellas and The MARVELETTES, this song was rather thin.

@Tomovox_PAMS_Radio_JIngles 11 дней назад
@@bustercolumbo When you listen to their Anthology, you'll find that there were better songs the group recorded, but at the same time, the earliest stuff was usually hit or miss. I don't know why Motown seemed to stick a lot of weaker songs on the group's b sides.
@theboyfromxtown
@theboyfromxtown 10 дней назад
Thank you Tomovox for this. I gotta say to you guys, you may describe it as thin but it did well enough with There He Goes in 4 American states at the time. Well enough for Mr Gordy to realise he made a mistake allowing Mickey Stevenson to take it elsewhere (to IPG) to release it. So the group were brought back to the main labels. One of the biggest advantages for the Velvelettes is that Mrs Edwards was always rooting for the group because it was her son that discovered and brought them to Motown.
