I seen Suzy in Pittsburgh years ago, what a great show it was. She sings so sincerely and her voice is so clean and sweet you can understand every word. She is truly one of the greatest female voices in country music!
Basically, Suzy is about the music and the people she connects to through the music and I guess that creates a niche rather than broad recognition. She didn't go pop like Shania Twain and Leann Rimes did about a decade after her. Dolly and Reba were established a decade or more before her and that was about all there was room for at the very top of country. At some point, country went a new direction and singers like Suzy and Mary Chapin Carpenter focused on the music they loved rather than selling the most records possible. I lost touch with their music for around 20 years then rediscovered them on RU-vid during Covid, when they both were singing weekly from their homes. Suzy still is singing live on RU-vid and Facebook on Wednesdays. Usually 3 songs and occasionally some great guests. I am still trying to catch up on the albums of hers I I missed over the years.
Had just moved to Oklahoma 1996. First morning on new job, soft music playing. Suzy's voice came on and I asked the secretary who it was.. I was blown away by her angelic voice. The next morning there was a cassette of her hits on my desk. Have worn it out!! Thank youTammy for turning me on to country music, especially Suzy!
There are two characteristics about Suzy that makes her a musical treasure. The first is her pure, clean and mesmerizing voice. The second is the compositional depth of her music. The lyrics combined with masterfully rich and tasteful chord progressions seal the magic that is Suzi Bogguss. So glad she is still performing. And then there is the wonderful inclusion sharing the stage with other wonderful artists. What a wonderful concert. Thank you for sharing this.
Suzy is sounding fabulous, beautifully singing her most popular and loved songs. Not lost on me is the respectful audience in attendance, you could hear a pin drop at any given moment. What a wonderful and memorable concert that must have been!
Have catch her show. Before we're gone. Last night I dreamed my big sister, who died in Jesus in 2016 before me, was sitting on ny chest. Like she did when we were kids. Someone behind her said, no it's not his time yet. The sand runs, and time rolls on...
