I've been dancing ballet for a little over a year now, all by myself. Do you have any recommendations on where to start to someday be accepted to a BA Ballet education? I am very passionate, but I just don't know where to start. Also, do you have any age limits?
Hi, Canadian Silver Swan here. If you're interested in starting ballet I encourage you to move forward and give it a try. I started ballet at age 50 and discovered a deep love for it. I've been taking 2 weekly classes for several years and now, in my 60's, I've reached my goal of dancing en pointe and I couldn't be happier.

Ballet is divine beauty! Thank you so much! I was a clumsy child so ballet was never an option. Now in my 60s I'm falling in love with the beautiful movements and practising in my kitchen. So beautiful! You are an excellent teacher and so lovely to watch.

This is the Royal Academy of Dance and there is absolutely no excuse for you to have such a low level of views and engagement with your videos. This is amazing content. I think you need to hire someone to do your onlìne media better. Ballet at the moment on youtube is HUGE and you're losing hundreds of thousand of views to dance studios in Arizona.
It's not for nothing that they say that a talented person is talented in everything. But in the case of Olga Smirnova, even more... This divine girl still has powerful moral principles!!! After all, WHY do the best people in Russia condemn the war in Ukraine??? That says a LOT!!! THANK you, Olenka, for your humanity, for the fact that I can say by your example that I was not mistaken in the current guidelines!!!
A wonderful dancer and a courageous person of great moral integrity. I have been lucky enough to attend her performances in several occasions, and she has always moved me deeply. She embodies the best and the purest of the superb Russian ballet tradition; what an extraordinary artist!

Question: How long does someone just starting ballet typically have to dsnce before getting tested or exams? Im 13, and i just started ballet about 5 weeks ago. I have bad anxiety, and I'm absolutely terrified. Im horrible at remembering things, and im scared i wont remember the words, or ill mess up, considering im older, my teacher is just trying to rush me through the grades to get me where i need to be. Im worried i won't have enough time, and I'll mess something up. My anxiety has been getting better with the socail environment of dance, but the thought of testing is eating away at me.
What grade have you joined in? Usually you have around 3-4 terms but they make sure everyone is comfortable because the exam is usually done as a group.
normally a full year because you start kind of learning after your exam for the next grade how long have you been learning your grade? also o think you should be at intermediate foundation because that’s best to start at

I learnt the RAD method as a child but haven't done it for 30 years. I've learnt other methods at various schools, but the RAD method still holds a special place in my heart as it looks the most graceful. Even though i have previously attended a ballet school specifically for adults, the syllabus was made up by the teacher and incredibly hap-hazard, changing from one term to the next. Being able to do the same things as everybody else in the country would be terrific. I currently attend a teenage ballet exam class taught by my original ballet teacher, but in a different method, and it's just not the same. I'm only 46 and finding it very hard on the joints with all the jumping. This looks so much better. It should be taught everywhere. If there are no ballet schools available then it should be available with online lessons. Well done RAD for seeing a need in the community and filling the void!
