Those sidewalls are deflecting HARD. Is lower profile/bigger wheels an option? Or just a stiffer sidewalled tire? Maybe wider wheels to help preload the sidewall a bit? Currently it looks like your wheels are slightly narrower than tread width. I'd try for 1-inch wider wheels, or whatever matches how reasonably wide you can pull the tire bead apart by hand. Obv you don't want "stance nation" stretch where you have to FORCE the tire to seat, but a little can go a long way for making the tires stiffer in the right manner to help response and load handling.
@@JaredFloyd well I missed the last one unexpectedly cuz it was in the shop, which kind of screws up the 2024 OnGrid season. I need to get a job so I can justify spending money on racing! I might do GTA, but last time I had my car on track was GTA last year when the turbo broke in the first session on the first day. I'm going to be a stranger to the road surface!
@@JaredFloyd Oh okay, totally thought that was an ipad lol. Would you have any recommendations for apps/devices to log lap times for someone just getting into HPDE? Looking to register for the HOD event on march 22 at ridge. Thanks for your response!
Based on this video Jared you would really enjoy our PCA A group. Lots of guys around 1:43s and excellent traffic management and awareness. Hope to see you out there next year!
Thanks! With the paddle shifting and two pedals of the Supra, it's a less frenetic driving experience compared to the S2000. Both cars are well balanced, short wheelbase, and rotate well. The Supra is definitely faster overall but the feedback and visibility out of the S2000 are better. I'm still getting use to the Supra - I only have one season of experience compared to ~20 seasons with the S2000.
Good description of what's happening and your thought process through the laps. I enjoyed that especially since a buddy and I are thinking of going next year. Was this through On-Grid? You get crazy good rotation through the corners
Thanks for the comments. This was a lapping day put on by Hooked On Driving (HOD). HOD, Turn2, OnGrid, and several other organizers put on great events at the Ridge.
@@JaredFloyd ahhh okay. I'm in NorCal so I'm familiar with HOD and OnGrid. Seems like the advanced group was a bit packed. Good patience from you with the low awareness from other drivers. 🫡
Awesome lap! The car looks so incredible in its setup. You can see how stiff the chassis is and how well the dampers are handling the motion. Maybe a bit edgy or your just pushing? Awesome progress with the car and glad you got it running!
Thanks Karl. Still lots for me to learn regarding car setup and how to drive it, however, preliminary results are very promising. A lot less edgy vs my S2000, but still a drivers car.
150mph at the braking zone for t1 would definitely have me with my ass clenched enough that Id be finding pieces of my car's seat inside my rectum for a few days afterwards.
This is my friend Steve He will take you for about 45 min. and the cost now is close to 3500.00 last time I talked to him and it is worth it! There is a picture package for a little bit more. He is an amazing pilot and his history is amazing, so awesome! He takes people through the canyon at about 500 Kts 50-80 ft off the ground and he is very precise! I said if anything goes wrong at all........He said you would never know lol
@@JaredFloyd yes, thanks! We got the rear end and the overheating issue squared away, but before I could get the car back, they noticed it was starting to smoke and lose power on the dyno so now I'm getting a new head. I've taken up blowing motors on the Corolla instead 😅
Thanks Karl. In that last session, my theoretical fast lap was a 1:45.0 so it's definitely possible to go faster, I just need to put it all together in the same lap. I do miss the days of getting a new PB each time out.
