Rule number one when reinstalling screws into plastic - start by unscrewing until you feel the thread "click". That means the threads have aligned. Then screw in normally.
Ah cool yes I really like this. The frustrating thing about the channel now is that there's no way I will get as much gaming time on this as I did my first Miyoo Mini V1
That looks so good! I attempted this with Super Nintendo (US) style buttons and did something to the ribbon cable on my devices. Ended up ordering a new one but I’m too scared to take the plunge. They’re so delicate.
@@adinwalls Yes there are so many releases, I only mentioned a few actually haha I'm waiting for your videos, TechDweeb's and Russ's, of course! Plus the guys from Retrohandhelds and Joey's and Vlad.
Got one in transparent black. Dropped it down a flight of steps (hardwood) and the screen does not have a scratch on it. Just a nick on the finish on the top left corner. It's awesome for GBA games. This is a great device. Edit: UI is trash.
Built mine before seeing this and the video would have helped a bit. Really love the device. I've been playing ROM hacks on it since getting my EDGB clone working (had to downgrade from fw 1.10 to 1.08 on the FPGBC). The EZ-Flash Junior works sort of - boots to the menu but most games white screen freeze but the same ROMs work on the EGDB clone. Anyway - glad you posted the video. Its a good one.
I was between original Miyoo Mini V4 and Anbernic RG28XX. I went with RG28XX (grey) since it was a nice deal for it alongside with a nice hard case (internal velvet) and 2 pieces of screen protector ($ 47 total). I guess my fat hands won't be too cramped (with my MM's+ it's just a little), will be the same as playing with my A30. Well I have a 35XX H too (purple, which is beautiful). I'm gonna wait black friday or the end of year festivities like Christmas to grab the 35XX SP (a transparent blue, really beauty one). I think at this point, the OG Miyoo Mini is just for collection and customization, it became a niche while the only good thing about it is Onion now.
@@adinwalls Yeah... The Silver and the transparent Blue are amazing, reminds me so much of the ones I had in my childhood. I had couple of colors, Silver, Flame Red, Graphite Black... But my favourite from Anbernic is the Blue. 3 New 35XX SP colors are coming: Transparent Green, Pink and Clear white.
Always screw & unscrew pcb in criss cross order to make sure the pressure is evenly applied. Doesn’t matter much with a little device but is a good habit for those who want to get into building other stuff like PCs
Do you think a screen saver is needed for these mini's? Just wondering your thoughts since you have had them for so long and I'm wondering if the screen is easily scratched. Great video btw.
Such a beautiful mod! FYI, I've done this a ton, and I never bother removing the ribbon cable. I just lift the PCB (need to pull it to the left far enough so that the volume dial comes out of the slot) and then hold it up on a 90 degree angle. You'll still have full access to all the doodads.
If you use Pico 8 natively there are no save states. It is purposefully designed to feel like a modern Gameboy. And yes the games are often quite difficult.
@@adinwalls trying on Mac so you know how that goes. Device won’t show up. Installed MacDroid, it was showing rp4pro and infernal combined so I said screw if and just plugged in the memory card. I selected File Transfer on the rp4 and yeah. Worked on my PC though but my roms are on a Mac so I really don’t want to spend the hours dumping to a pc just to transfer over. A simple SSH would be cool, I’ve done it with other handhelds, so far everything is extra complicated with RP4pro
Not having OTA updates is insane at this point. That's my biggest complaint, by far! By the time I got my 40XXV a few weeks back, they already had an update for it. I LOVE the schedule, but the update process is absolutely miserable and I refuse to do it, despite liking the software. 💚
@adinwalls Well, and then there's the fact that I KNOW how to do it, I'm just tired of doing it to 5, 6, 7, etc.. of my devices every other week. Many people buying these don't even know what a ROM is or how to flash firmware. I've had many reach out to me about being intimidated about dealing with the software, or even just RetroArch, and I'm sure you have too. Point is, they've missed the point. They target an audience and then miss.
@@adinwalls UPDATE : Just checked the membrane, I swapped the membrane between face button and Dpad, and now it works great! I guess they accidently swapped.
I returned both the RG40xx v and h for the Powkiddy 20sx and have never looked back. Aside from the better dpad on the 40xxv the 20sx is a much better device than these in my humble opinion. The screen is just so crisp and clear compared to both of those Ambermic devices.
Hey Peter. If you're willing to wait I think the end of the year will be a good time to shop. Lots of sales. If you like vertical devices, the RG406V is going to be excellent.
@adinwalls Thanks Adin, that's a great tip. Regarding the RG406 V I already have the RG405 V. I was thinking more about the RG40XX V. In any case your tip is precious to me. Thanks Adin, see you in the next video.
LITNXT's prices are way too high. Best to go directly to the source or Aliexpress. I bought from LITNXT before and it took them about 20 days until received. Aliexpress can beat that often time.
Who the hell wants to play retro games on a stupid phone? i mean come on man. these consoles are designed from the ground up to be gaming devices, phones suck
