I think Dragon Fist is underrated. It’s one of the better Jackie/Lo Wei collaborations and features Jackie in a more serious and one in which he really gets to show off his fighting prowess.
Magnificent Bodyguard is the only film not made by Golden Harvest where Jackie Chan had previously team with James Tien and Bruce Liang before Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao. In Twin Dragons, I would think Wang Lung Wei would have been a better lead villain instead of Kirk Wong. I think Jackie went to different direction in Dragon Lords because most of his Martial Arts action seems to disappear and replaced mostly with stunt action instead. Sammo Hung did an interview here saying that he wasn't expect to have a role in Heart of the Dragon and it was a difficult film when the producer approach him with the scripts. Since he couldn't found someone who can play the mental disable brother, then he just had to take that role instead. And the Miracle is much like both Project A & Project A II, but I wish Jackie could have fought Billy Chow in more upcoming films other than this is the only one. I also like more of his films with Lo Wei such as Half A Loaf of Kung Fu, Dragon Fist, Snake and Crane Arts of Shaolin, & Fearless Hyena. As for the Golden Harvest, some of my favorites including these four films are Wheels On Meals, Dragon Forever, Armour of God, City Hunter, Thunderbolt, etc.
Still have Dragon Lord and The Young master on VHS with the cool drawn covers and the legendary Hwang In-Shik as the bad guy in both movies, great list btw.
Enjoyable video, Bruce! I like your choices! The Magnificent Bodyguards is a fun old school kung fu movie (matter of fact, I'm currently waiting for a blu-ray of this one to arrive in the mail!), not only does it have a young Jackie Chan but Bruce Liang is impressive as the kicking specialist, too, I just wish I could get the chance to see it in 3D! I also love Twin Dragons, the leading ladies are both charming & beautiful, the action & comedy are fun, but I do miss end credit out-takes with that one. Speaking of out-takes, wasn't Dragon Lord the first of Jackie's movies to include NGs/bloopers over the end credits? As for Heart of the Dragon, I always thought the tone was a bit uneven in that one but has Jackie ever been more brutal than he was in the climactic fight scenes? Not as I can recall! And Miracles? I think that movie can be shown as an example of why there's never been another movie star quite like Jackie Chan! One more Jackie title I think of as being a bit overlooked is Who Am I. I kind of consider it the last real Jackie Chan movie before Jackie went to Hollywood & had to start compromising with Western directors on the action scenes, it seems to me with Who Am I Jackie was still allowed to come up whatever action he wanted to do, I hope it gets a good blu-ray release soon.
I just knew you’d pick Heart of Dragon. It’s been a favourite of mine for years, dodgy opening scene but otherwise great film and still an upsetting watch. The Hapkido training really shows itself in JC’s kicks in that movie. I’m also a fan of Twin Dragons and I would have subbed out the older period piece with the knockoff Star Wars music with …. Thunderbolt 👊🏻⚡️
Just to throw some later era Jackie in there I love Who am I (The rooftop fight) and digging really deep Rob-B-Hood (the end fight in the fancy house/gym/band practice area).
Miracles is amazing, the first scene you showed while presenting it is one of my alltime favourites...... My most beloved unknown Jackie movies are Eastern Condors which you mentioned and OFC Snake&Crane arts of Shaolin, i love that movie.....
Well done Bruce All you're kicks were alot Better than Jackie's use this as a very promising sign‼ aim to be the Best kick Master on the planet‼and hopefully you should go far 🌟🙏🌟
This video plus the recent kicking warm up video make a fun active recovery day! Can we get a Simon Rhee or Keith Cooke kicking combo please? Thanks Sifu!
This reminds me of one of the kicking workout videos in your quarantine workout series. I revisit the kicking and stretching videos in that playlist often. Super useful stuff! Highly recommended to all! I have a feeling I’ll be revisiting this too quite a bit. Thank you!
Game of Deatch combo is one of my fav , looks incredible and very hard , imagine how hard it will be holding nunchaku while doing in it :) Very nice video my friend !
Quality top-notch. Have not seen anything like this elsewhere. It is clear you mastered the "Athleticism" that you had time to think through and develop everything beside the workout itself. In meme language: for free 👉👈?!
This is awesome! More of this please! A whole kicking series featuring multiple martial arts movie stars. This is a perfect complement to the Willow Dojo programming! A great active recovery day routine!
