Cheers for including Sublime. They were a band that introduced a lot of people to reggae. My band still plays Rivers of Babylon almost every performance. MUCH LOVE!!!
Great summation.Nice that you went up to the last album Trevor made with the two new guys. You didn't mention the two great albums Irie Feeling and Lyrics to Riddim.
Please if you haven't do a profile on The Cimarons for this channel. Thanks for continually educating us on known and lesser known Reggae Icons and Legends. 🎉🎉
@@dee24874 Blessings ✌️ Excellent suggestion. I included them in a video of Britain's top reggae groups a while back but they deserve a video of their own
These guys where amazing people , I had to the pleasure of Iinterviewing them when I had my radio show ,,, ,,they have good vybz,,,,rip to the singer too
Excellent.... When Pope John Paul visited Ireland in 1981 100 000 Irish schoolchildren sang Rivers of Babylon to him!!!! Ha Ha.............Jah works in mysterious ways!!!!!
The first time i've heard about the Melodians, whas during a gig of ub40. The guitar player of ub40 Robin Campbell, did the song: Sweet sensation and i love it still. BLESS THE MELODIANS!
Blessings to her for showing Peter real Love. I'm saddened to hear about the other side of Peter, but nuff respect for his music he brought to the world. Rest on Yvonne and Peter.❤👊🏽🙏🏾🌄
Wot about baggariddim , giving local sound system entertainers (largely unknown outside of Birmingham) a chance to cut a tune and get some exposure . Not many bands would take a risk like that , maximum respect , great album as well
Great video here, I learned a lot about this mysterious band. Strangely I was living in the DC area when they were getting started , but never heard of them or saw them. They were still VERY underground and never opened any of the many 930 Club reggae shows (Jah Works was the proverbial opener then) or many other DC venues having reggae and I went to a lot of reggae shows in DC. At least 2 of times I left town to see them they were staying in the same hotel as me and once just a few doors down the hall from me, but we didn't hang out. One of my purposes in life was to document Midnite's live shows and share it with the world via youtube.
I am a fan of Rita Marley's music; however, contrary to all the good things exalted about her in this video, before she published her memoirs and before the controversial statements from Bunny Wailer against her, I always heard that Rita was a cold and calculating woman.
In 1983, he was part of an Album name 'Tidal Wave'. It featured 3 other reggae acts. Bobby Culture, Nicodemus, Brimstone & Fire. It was a hit album in NY and on the College curcuit.
Wow, Love how you are representing us brother. Not big on dancehal/reggae but will surely subscribe. Hope you and yours are well and safe in these times ❤
The harder they come was entertaining but a poor movie with weak plots points inserted to propel the story . Ivan could have used a musician with an acoustic guitar to practice & rehearse outside of the church. . it is not possible to make a living from record sales on a small island & British colony without international exposure. . Ivan had no respect for the Preacher, Elsa & Jose who saved him from struggling. . Ivan was a materialistic narcissist & used everyone. Yet it was Jose who was portrayed as the villain. . The sound track was great but the movie script was weak.
I am a veteran journalist and I just want to say you guys did a great job with this mini-documentary. You explained his roots, his impact and untimely passing. You laid out the facts, didn't offer conjecture, and allowed viewers to draw their own conclusions. Also some great photos I've never seen before. Great job!
One of the Blessed Artist in the Music... On of Reggae Kings... Not every one can stand strong in dat Music industry...Jah see and know. Deep Respect for Denis Emmanuel Brown...1❤
He was refused entry into Ethiopia during his transit in Nairobi Kenya. Him was vaxed and on his way out he happened to bump into a man who recognised Bob and he told bob to take a walk back to the Ethiopian embassy. Shortly after ,the man came back out and handed Bob and his travelling mate visa to Ethiopia. As it turns out, the man who helped skip was non other than a cousin of Haile Selasi I . Basically, that safari was meant to happen and by the grace of the almighty creator Allah, Bob got to visit Ethiopia!!!
For the individuals posting Big Youth's name, both Big Youth and U-Roy admitted to getting their idea from American Radio Deejays like Jocko Henderson.
Castro Brown went on to create a label in Jamaica, New Name Musik, Dennis also recorded for the label, or did Castro take some of Dennis Browns earlier recordings & release them without permission?
@@admiralhipowa7158 It might be a bit of both. Dennis gave him a few songs for his first label Morpheus Records so he might have re-released them. I also know they reconciled after Dennis moved back to Jamaica
