Great show, stop hating on the show when it won. Either just saltiness at losing or you don’t see how well the show flows. May be simple but they executed it amazingly
The music is fine I’m just disappointed with the drill. The spacing and cover downs weren’t achieved well. Maybe it was just a bad run visually but that was the only complaint I had. Still a great program tho!
Oooo... did yall hear the ring at the end of the 3rd movement at 7:06 it was so good! Also, a little off-topic. My high school band director kept teasing us saying our marching show was going to be Taylor swift... A lot of people almost quite right then and there and then he revealed it was actually a show called metal strike and uses Thunderstruck by AC/DC. It sounds so good and weve only just started. Not to brag but watch out north east texas 3a and 4a marching bands.
I keep watching this just for the brass intro. This is an outstanding high school group that should have one 1st @ nationals. The level of music is beyond some colleges.
@@StoriesMax12 Hmmm, highest music score in history. Should have been 1st in music and 1st in music GE.(and GE overall). No less than 1s with a 97.8, with Carmel at second with 95.6.
My problem with this show is not that it's bad or anything, but it seems...generic. It seems like just another 6a marching show. Nothing about spotlight stands out(ironic) congrats on State and San antonio, but Idk if the scores were deserved, and I certainly do not believe it is a record breaking show. Just my opinion, good job Vandy
Designers have figured out the formula that allows for consistent high scoring shows. It's why the Blue Devils win every year while sounding generically like "yet-another-blue-devils-show". Until the judges start awarding different designs (e.g. more exciting drill, more emphasis on musicality over loud homorhythmic stabs and MORE-16ths-AT-ALL-COSTS woodwind features) they will keep doing the same things every year.
Not really sure how this performance got 1st in State. I mean it was fine but very forgettable. The marching was fine but again just too much follow the leader EZ stuff. The fact they have a lot of players should not give them 1st.
I just watched the whole dang thing again just for you. And I stand by my comment. Simple as heck moves. Way too many body visuals. March. Stop. Play. March. Stop. Play. No risk in their performance. Not a memorable performance. They didn’t raise the bar. They didn’t deserve 1st. Sorry not sorry.
No kidding really. How about offering your own thoughts versus just stating the obvious that the judges lapped it up. Anyway I just watched Marcus and Hebron and their performances had far more complexity and risk, which should be rewarded when it’s executed well (as it was). Again I stand by my original post. Someone tell me I’m wrong with some honest reasoning.
@@user-ml2re8ek7b it seems like a difficult show to me idk what ur saying. i feel the same way about Carmel, their stuff is actually hard it just always sound so cool and flashy and have that fan favoritism like Hebron or Avon
@@moonliteproductions2353It goes to show just how much potential this show. It's not the most difficult but it is quite difficult yet achievable. Vandegrift does it well. Not many bands could take spotlight and perform it the way Vandy does
