Horrible toilet!! I put one into a previous home in 2006. It was wonderful. Never had to flush twice. Just installed one a month ago and the thing is worthless. There is so little water in the toilet bowl that you need to flush at least three times if you do a number two.not what I was going for in my powder room when guests come over. Wish I could have the stupid thing ripped out and a different toilet installed, but I’m already in $500.

OK, we have entered the bizarro world, where left is right, up is down, literal is figurative, and AERATION is done without adding AIR. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In the world where I USED to live, the word aeration (derived from Latin "aer") LITERALLY (the old version of literally, not the new one that means figuratively) meant adding AIR to the water. Gerber makes some scary and dubious claims at 0:24 where they say aerators bring "ALL THE MICROBES from the bathroom environment" into the water. But I'm already breathing those microbes in the air, so what additional hazard is caused by washing my hands with aerated soapy water? Forget about the faucet, I guess I'll have to don my N95 mask every time I enter the bathroom. I am aware that in a surgical setting, splashing water can be very unhygienic, so hospitals shouldn't aerate their water. Oh wait, they actually do wear N95 masks in a surgical setting, and for good reason. That's best practice for a HOSPITAL. But in a normal residential or commercial setting things are different. Soap is attracted to air-water interfaces (that's why it makes soap suds), so the extra air-water surface area created by REAL turbulent aeration is much more efficient at removing soap from your hands with much less water. Plus, the greater linear velocity of the aerated air-water mixture is more efficient at penetrating through the slick soap film on your hands, especially within the EPA's 1.5 GPM WaterSense limit. If the water is going so fast that it splashes off your hands and out of the sink, then turn down the flowrate. EPA will love you even more for that. This very concept of "laminarrr" aeration is an oxymoron. Think "aerobic" vs. "anaerobic". Enjoy watching your beautiful lamnarrr water streams from your luxurious "anaerators" while I go buy a faucet that actually aerates the water the old-fashioned turbulent way. I'll rinse my hands faster and with less water, and won't expose myself to any more microbes than I'm already breathing.

Thanks for your feedback. Your’re right, the air pulled into the water stream with an aerator is the same air you breathe in the same space. You are also correct in stating that laminar is often required for hospital applications based on hygiene. The improved hygiene is one of the reasons we choose to use laminar flow in some of our lavatory faucets. The visual of a clear stream, less sound from the turbulent water stream, and less splashing based on sink/drain interaction are also important to some users. Some of our Gerber Classics faucets still use an aerated stream, and we offer replacement aerators that have a more traditional turbulent stream, or a low-flow spray pattern at 0.5gpm if you prefer. We strive to design and manufacture products with features that our customers value and we believe the benefits of laminar flow like low splash, quiet and hygienic are all real benefits valued by many of our consumers.
@Tonyplat98
@Tonyplat98 Месяц назад
While I understand the need for commercials why not call it water restrictor instead of aerator because all it does is restrict the flow of water coming out the faucet. Aerator literally means it puts air into the water so that you can wash the soap off your hands quicker and more efficiently. I get it though the need for something different to lure in more customers that’s actually a thing but laminar flow was invented in 1959 that’s nothing new.

What two requirements should toilets have? They should flush quietly and save water whenever someone only has to pee in them. Why should toilets flush quietly? Because loud toilets wake light sleepers and startle people with sensitive hearing. Saving water should mean that toilets use less water when they’re supposed to so that everyone has access to clean water! Simply flushing less often doesn’t keep water clean! It just means leaving behind a mess that can make anything else get dirty faster!

Thanks for the video. I have a Danze faucet. Once I remove the cartridge and cartridge sleeve there is a metal base remaining that has a plastic sleeve that fits over it with a flange at the bottom that holds the faucet fixture down. There is a set pin through that plastic sleeve and the metal base. This prevents the sleeve from being removed which prevents the faucent from being removed. I even gently tapped on the set pin to see if it was easily removable but it is not. Its as if Danze designed this faucet to prevent any maintenance like what you demonstrated in this video - which is madness. Would be thankful for any additional advice you might have.
