I was in Israel last August, weeks before Oct 7. It was told to me before visiting the border of Gaza that Israel doesn’t have an army. There’s a reason their military is called a defense force and not an army. The criteria are different. I can understand assuming they’re one and the same. Before that I didn’t know there were differences that would keep them from identifying as an army.
