I don't release the ribbon cable. I just fold back the motherboard and screen, clean the contacts, replace the pads and reposition the screen and motherboard back in place, and away we gooooo!
That small ribbon cable is the bane of my existence. Trying to reattach it is a nightmare. Any tips? Pretty sure thats why my ds lite instantly shuts back down
My video cable got caught when I was trying to thread it through and when I was trying to get it unlodged, the connector popped off. I'm so upset with myself.
How is anyone else keeping the trigger button springs from popping out? Even a hair touch will pop the springs when i try to put the case on. It's my biggest hurdle and no one has a dedicated tutorial online
Why, in the ever living hell, are you instructing people to remove the ribbon cable? It absolutely doesn't need to be removed to replace the rubber pads.
I followed this guide, but my DS now will not turn on. I know you said to make sure the ribbon cable connecting from the top screen to the motherboard on the bottom was securely locked in, and I thought I did that. I even opened my DS back up to try reconnecting it. What happens when I flick the power switch is the green light indicating the system is on shows for a few seconds, and then my bottom screen flashes white then immediately the system shuts off. There is never any activity on my top screen. I don't think the ribbon cable is damaged in any way, so I'm not sure what it could be.
So I did fuck up and snapped the switch to turn the power on but it was because the person I bought it from added an adhesive strip to the screen. would it be possible to stick the little tab back in position with crazy glue?
Chris. P. Baecon why dude idk if you can, but Ik your pain. I can only use my D's now by removing the switch altogether, and whenever I want to turn on my ds, I use a paperclip in where the little tab used to go. Good temporary solution, pain in the ass long term
Just a quick note. *BEFORE* you buy replacement buttons, try cleaning your contacts with rubbing alcohol first, That's a common problem, and the fix can save you the time of shipping and some money.
The A button physically feels like B , X and Y but it never responds to presses Do i need to clean the A contact? I have isopropyl alcohol- i assume there is no physical damage since it feels the same as a functional button
I needed to replace the button backings after my a button stopped working. I followed this video and it went great! Everything's working fine and I have my DS again : ) Thank you!
hey do u know how to repair the ds lite control pad? i have had it for about 6 yrs, and a few times i accidently dropped it, which probably did something to make the control pad not work. the up arrow control and the left arrow control dont work properly, because i have to press extremely hard to make it work, so can someone help me figure out how to fix this??
Unlike in this video, my triwing screws were FUCKING TIGHT and/or my triwing screwdriver was crap, anyway I ended up stripping them and they're still in place =(
Random Guy happened to me with my 3ds as well -_- tips for next time, make sure the screwdriver is in properly, make sure you KNOW which way to turn and do it with a lot of force in the beginning. ( that at least worked perfectly for me on my ds lite.) I also heard it is possible to remove stripped screws in sevral ways, go google it

My other old DS is now completly broken. top screen is still on but can't she anything.(Mostly white and a little cracked inside) The touch screen is not so.. precise anymore.. one gummy thing on the right and 2 of the left are broken. But nothing broke when I screwed it apart xD
I think I only need to replace the top part of the bottom screen (does that make sense?) someone said there's a touch bit on top of the actual screen? Basically the ds has been pressed on too hard and the screen is now stuck pressing down so I need to replace it?
