I’m Mike and I like Motorbikes. I currently own a few bikes including a HD Pan America. On this channel, I will post videos related to maintenance tips for the bikes I own, some gear and parts reviews, and some motorcycle safety related topics. Thanks for watching, and check out my blog site for articles I've written.
The kind of reliability I would expect from a used 10 year old motorcycle. Still very interested in the Pan America, but I'll be giving them a few more years to iron out the issues.
It also doesn't have a Aux output port wich IS available on the car unit. Most Honda Goldwings have a Aux port so i can hear everything via my main speakers.
I got this year's cvo. I love the cases. The seat is meh. I find myself standing up on the pegs once in a while on long rides. The 3" risers the dealer put on work well for me. My only complaint of the storage is i don't have any hard case that can store my helmets. Too small.
Thanks, Mike. Dealer tried to charge +400 usd to 10k maintenance just to change spark plugs, but i was able to do it by myself - thanks to this video of yours.
Thanks Mike! Just asked my dealer to do the update while in for 5k service and of course they forgot. I said screw it and followed your guide! Only did it today but so far so good! thanks for the video.
I can relate to everything you do, I have the same Promar tire changer. My Springer 08' has a 200 rear that gets a bit tricky trying to keep the tire in the lower chamber of the rim when changing. I even have the same propane heater lolol 😅, anyway glad I came across your vids
Honestly if I ever need todo something to my pan I always check out your channel first before anywhere else 🤙 keep up the awesome work very helpful videos
THIS is an really amazing video, thanks for all the details and the professional presentation! I have a 2022 version. Probably unfortunately bought this year. I had a lot of time and rode 10.000 miles within the last 10 weeks. The good thing, it still rides. The bad: I needed starter assistance 3 times, 3-4 times struggling hard to get it running. Very bad in some foreign country. Now It's at the 10.000 miles service. Mentioned the issues also at 5000 miles service. Not sure what the outcome will be. Your video helps a lot in what upgrades may be possible or not. Unfortunately the seller told me there are no major upgrade from 22 to 24 which are necessary for regular drivers. But it seems something is wrong.
Hello Mike, After watching your video on the 2024 PAS and some contemplation I have decided to trade my very reliable 2022 PAS in on a 2024 PAS in the spectacular green. My dealer also gave me the retail to retail trade in deal even though my 2022 had 24 k on it. I take delivery next Saturday the 20th of July. Cant wait. Nice to have the upgrades. Transferred the total VIP package over to the new bike. I had contemplated getting the Low Rider ST but after sitting on one and not veing anywhere as comfortable as the PA I went with the PA. I really love this bike. Now will see if I can put more miles on this one in less time.
Great video! Thanks for the honest details. I can confirm like everything after 10 weeks and 11.000 miles. Tough season start here. Unfortunately I got stranded 3 times. Just no juice on starting. Probably 1 time it was my fault - ignition on for 10 minutes talked to a friend - didn't start after that, still, no other bike would have struggled. But the other two times I was just riding all day. Next morning "she" was dead. Strange thing. It didn't sound like something was "out of power" but it always restarted the whole display and resetted the time? Every heard of something like that? Thanks in advance, Mike
Yes, and they are long gone. Don't waste your money on these accessories for your HD Pan America ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JP6Y9U8JEN8.html
Interestingly, my January 2022 had to have the starter clutch replaced. This year, June 2024, it is in the shop to have the alternator changed, it had a magnet come loose and was causing the engine to cut out, so they are replacing the alternator with the 2024 kit at a cost of $4,000AUD (Australia), they are not just fitting a replacement alternator from 2022, it is not available. Sounds like something they should be doing as a recall, not a fix.
I just snagged one on Amazon Vine, of course I looked for online reviews first to make sure it wasn't a dud! We still pay 30-40% income tax on this stuff.
Fantastic review - you've captured the good, bad and indifferent superbly well. Your "glitch" has happened to me a couple of times on my Android setup - some kind of connection issue with the phone (Samsung), I think. It required a reboot, which isn't easy when riding. Frustrating, but not a deal breaker. I did have issues with the first unit I had...customer service was delayed as you say, but acceptable. They directed me to carry out a firmware update, which resulted in the unit becoming an expensive brick - completely dead! That said, they sent me a new unit immediately and completely free-of-charge, which already had the firmware update installed and it has worked fine except for the "glitches" already mentioned; they didn't ask that I return the failed unit, so it sits on a shelf in case they decided to collect. Great video. Thank you.
Just found out that the Top Case Mounting Bracket (53000800) will not fit all 2024 PAS's to mount a storage box. My bike was at dealer for install and they gave me the HD communication dated 6-26-2024. I called HD because on website it states "will fit my 2024 PAS." Small print below states 2021-2023. They stated that there may be 2024 Specials with it mounted, however, they may not cover with warranty if issue. Frustrating so went with Pazoma. I enjoy your channel.
I find the stock one pushes me forward to much and causes the ol twig and berries to get smashed into the tank. I've been looking at the touratech seat but it's really expensive. Have you tried any other seats since this video?
The dealership experience is one of my fears if I buy a Pan America. My first bike years ago was a Buell XB9S, and I remember multiple dealership experiences at multiple dealers where I felt like I was a second-class citizen because I was not riding a Sportster, cruiser, or heavyweight tourer.
Thank you so much Mike. Very clear and simple. When I went to the official service they didn't do it arguing that they didn't have the updated software on their computer... Incredible.
I’m also a moto RU-vidr and was just contacted be Carpuride. I haven’t committed yet as I’m not totally familiar with their products. I’d be interested way more in front/rear facing cameras and proximity sensors. I have an old school scrambler with zero tech and worthless gages that would benefit with a similar unit. Good job on the video, you’re way more tech savvy than me.
Great channel….i keep revisiting your vids again and again…..any chance that when you eventually have to replace the chain and sprockets that you make a new vlog?
@@MikesMotorbikeChannel that's great to hear, so many horror stories haha I can get a 2022 special for the same price as an africa twin adventure sports, I think the harley will be a much better 2up touring bike
Beware the lock mechanism can jam. Also the lock barrels can come out. Harley replaced my original pair but the replacements have gone the same way after only using them twice. Still waiting for Harley to give me an answer.
Good review, i've been using mine and really happy with it during the day. But the big problem i can not seem to get around is when using Google Maps at night. Even when i have turned the brightness all the way down and setting Google Maps to night mode, the screen is still too bright and off-putting, to the point it destroys my night vision and eyes can't adjust to the road at night as the screen is so bright and lighting me up. Have you found a way to dim the screen more or enable a night mode on the device settings? Thanks
