This is exactly what I was looking for thank you for sharing! I followed your guide and its working great. I just wanted a little more control over my front page. I created a child theme, duplicated and renamed the page.php to page_custom_frontpage.php pdating the Template Name and applied to my front page - great stuff
I had a slightly different issue but your video gave me clues what to look for under ... I found my solution in adding additional payment methods under the "payments" tab... :)
i believe its page.php <- -- - - - Wrong here is the file. Go into your theme folder and find Page-Template folder copy the file in it . should be named child menu. Change this Template Name: Child Menu ( should be like this Template Name: PAGE NAME ) then find <?php the_content(); ?> and replace it with your code. Then save the file to whatever name then upload it in that page-template folder. Then go in admin panel click on page and click new and page attributes on the right find the page you made and bam done. Add the page to a menu and it works :)
Just in case someone still struggles to find where phpfile.php can be found and copied - it is done (or at least can be done) not in your WP panel where you add pages, posts and etc. but in your hosting account panel (where all your information and website data is stored). Hosting account -> File manager -> Your website folder -> wp-content -> themes. Then copy a .php page, rename it and follow remaining steps from the video. (However, I'm not sure how correct is this way. At leats nothing crashed and now I'm working on new page so good luck!)

Great tutorial it works really good for me until I decide to place a form inside the template! I have been trying for several days and the form display really good but when submitted I get this error "Sorry but that page doesn't exist" and nothing is sent to the database. "outside Wordpress the form and database work perfect". Any suggestions?
