This was a lot of gobbleley gook! A thicker stick with a long taper offsets the rebound! Put simply, a 2B rebound is a joke! A PW727N, which is now called a "FORWARD" stick has far greater rebound! If a stick has a diameter greater than .580 inches; it is NOT designed to be used on a drum kit! Marching Band Drum Sticks are NOT designed to be used on a Drum Kit! If you want to hit harder use OAK sticks! Oak is harder, heaver, and stronger than Hickory, or Maple! Nylon tips don't splinter! Wood tips DO SPLINTER! Select a stick which is comfortable in your hands. I have a range of stick diameters that I use. (.500 - .565) The type of stick I use depends on the type of Music I'm playing. A Vic Firth TMB-1 has as much wallop as a ProMark PW2S. It just won't last as long. A TMB-1 is much easier to move around a drum kit! And, I have, in my youth, punctured drum heads with 2S drum sticks! I've never broken a drum head with timbale sticks! My personal preference of ProMark Sticks: TXJZN, PWJZN, PW707N, PW5AN, and PWRKW. ALL of these sticks have been DISCONTINUED by D'Addario! The ONLY Current ProMark stick that I am using; is a PW727N.
After 1.5 years my bridge is completely fucked. The saddles on the bridge are completely teared, causing strings to break after using a few times. The black layer is teared of and you can see the copper (I think) layer underneath. Meaning it's bad quality. I nog have to replace the bridge completely. Would not recommended this guitar for durability, especially since its an expensive guitar.
Paul stated that the Rock pack and Standard pack both have the same sizes (10-12-16), but the Standard pack has 12-13-16 sizes for those of you who didn't catch the error.
Make sure you don't select a stick that Promark will eventually discontinue. They've already axed several sticks from the line and the brand is not what it used to be.
"Think about rhythm".... As a self taught musician, damn right... nomatter the key, over half the time you'll find something that works.and you can play with what doesn't typically work but still make music. Music is amazing, and I believe it's a universal language.
I have the 18" K Sweet Crash (6:27) and I love it! It is darker than the 18" K Dark Thin Crash which it replaced and sounds (to me) much better for my style of soft jazz playing. Now I'm considering the K Sweet Ride 21" - just waiting for a chance to hear it in person before I make the leap.
Amazing Demo Will, just purchase a DR-100 in Vintage Sunburst (My favorite color and a great value at 169.00 USD) I am over the moon but because I'm Left Handed I will have guitar modified and up grade Bridge, Nut and Pins. Lastly I know this video is 11 years old but my DR-100 (Purchased in 2024) does not look as nice out of the box as one in video, kind of sad don't you think?
Same pickups, same bridge hardware, same scale length, etc. = Same tone. Any perceived differences are from slight variations in how the guy is playing. (Even the infinitesimal differences in setup across the two guitars, like pickup height, are disguised at high gain.)
