Also, I agree with Shawn: I very much like Paul Maurice. I don't think his role as Johnny the Jokeman will negatively impact his team. I understand DJ's point about smart coaches manipulating outcomes via press, but I like what Jon Cooper had to say about this on TNT panel last week. In short, he said he had a feeling at a certain point on his Cup teams that it was time to sit back and do less. He observed it was very special to witness. My instinct as a neutral fan is that the Panthers are in the midst of such a special run at the moment, and if Maurice is able to sense even a bit of this, he is right to remain in this joking "flow state" (if you will) and just be present in the moment. His club is exactly where they need to be and do not need meddling.

The thing is, teams don't make it through to the finals by blowing stinkers. The Panthers and the Oilers have both proven to be the best of the best up to this point. There are potentially 7 games left. All it takes is 4. But those are going to be the 4 most difficult wins that either team has to earn this year.

That's not really true... The Blues did it back in 2019. They were the worst team in the league on January 1st. And won the cup 6 months later with nobody even close to McDavid levels of power on their team.

It always the big guys didn't show up when talking about a teams playing the panthers. When are people going to say the panthers shut down any teams top guys. They shut down kuch, stamkos, pasta, bread, zibanijad, etc the list goes on and on and on. Get ready to add McDavid and Draisaitl to that list.
Every time I see one of these idiots talking about how they questioned Edmontons defense I know they don’t watch the games and they only watch highlights. If you have been watching Edmonton since Knobber came in has seen stellar team defense and a great system that doesn’t compromise opening up the ice for great breakouts and offensive plays. McDavid and Drai and Nuge are all up there on most takeaways in the playoffs, they backcheck hard as hell, have all year. There’s always going to be mistakes but the oilers have not abandoned defensive responsibilities with lack of effort one bit all year. Way too many talking heads that haven’t even watched a whole game talking out their asses. Everyone east of Mountain standard time has been sleeping on the Oil all year.
The oilers went to 7 with the canuks and beat 6 with the kings. They havnt faced a decent goaltender or D. Otty is playing terrible. Florida have beat Vasy, Swayman and about to beat Igor.
Hope you are right but Tkachuk has a way better & deeper supporting cast in Florida than he ever had in Calgary & that's a fact. Calgary gave Edmonton a spanking or two so I'd never go by past performances only as a indicator of what will happen. For example in This season Vancouver owned Edmonton in the regular season yet playoffs the Oilers were able to prevail.
they played florida twice in the regular season and lost both times. First game was 5-3 second game was 5-1. florida put up 10 goals in 2 games on them and are much better now! Watching the ECF games made the WCF games look like regular season games in comparison. The overwhelming intensity that florida plays with for 60 minutes every single game is not matched by anybody else. Panthers in 5
People used to play contact sports.. it was cool... if someone faster than you was a problem, you put him on the ice, so they were too busy getting back up to play. Now it's all beta boys and concussions ... I had 9 of them playing sports... My body my choice... I would do it again.
If this guy doesn't realize Bobobskry is the next best goaltender, he is a useless expert. He is right there with Marty Biron saying the NYR Rangers had deeper forward core than Florida.
The best player on the ice in playoff games is nobody others than Leon Draisaitl! He makes the difference, and McDavid names HIM the best player of the world! The golden nights last year understood this essential impact of Leon after game one and did all to stop him - with success! Peter deBoer thinks McDavid is the key player.... And/ but others the lineup with Leon start scoing.... With McLeod and Perry now. But it's good if the stars still asleep, so the Oilers will get the cup!
@@_Jaze_ theres good reason to think so. Our penalty kill and power play are incredibly dangerous. Dallas is the best on paper matchup against us. Unless the winners in the east bring a cleaner game than dallas i dont see them doing much to the oilers at all.
