I'm unashamedly not the fittest nor fastest nor most experienced. I avoid the crowds where possible and use the natural power of the landscape to detox from the everyday world.
Wild camping is my thing, solo or with a buddy, catching a sunset or sunrise a bonus more fulfilling than reaching any summit (though I do love a good summit!).
I'm a technical guy at heart, and I get enjoyment from planning the trek, selecting what kit to take, dehydrating a meal weeks earlier imagining how it will be on a chilly evening on a hillside.
I focus a fair bit on the views or even the terrain underfoot, so you can see what you'll encounter should you take the same path.
I'm not an equipment critique - there are plenty of RU-vidrs out there far better at that than I, but I'll share my view on the kit I take and answer any questions in the comments.
@@user-rk5mt7iq8n I wouldn't! 😂. Joking aside, it is very strong kerlon 1800 fabric, it hugs the ground, has three overlapping 10mm poles, I personally wouldn't want to camp in very high winds but I imagine it would stand a fair chance of surviving with decent pegs all round. Cheers!

I was so excited to see where will you camp. I have camped on both sides of the tarn. Nice spot you got. I have Gossamer Mariposa .. I love the big pouches. I haven't taken the sit pad out yet.. thought it would be a pain to get it back lol. Nice pack.
Hey Linda. It was a toss up between the two packs and oddly I opted for the smaller pack to actually prevent me bringing too much along. Yes the sit pad was a wrestle to get back in...so much so that I figured 'never again'. Hope you get back out there soon x
I did try to sit it out for 10 mins but it just wouldn't let up so in the end I resigned myself to getting soaked but not defeated. Hey fortune favours the bold. Cheers!
That’s memories right there and precious time with your daughter. Reminds me of trips with my girls when they were younger. I live down south though so the the terrain is not so dramatic. Lovely video 😊

Lol hi Linda, I think I've been up there 4 times, it's so beautiful and very handy from a car perspective to park at honister slate works and within an hour walk feel miles away from it all. I used a 3 season Hilleberg Niak this time, lighter than the Nallo and easier to dry being freestanding but roomy still. I'm so proud of Hazel and she's proud of herself especially when she hears these comments. Happy Trekking Linda!

Around 1hr45 I reckon, probably a little less if from the phonebox you walk past the Langstrath Inn and alongside the campsite as opposed to the route taken here (it won't be quite as scenic for the first third of the walk if you do though but it's easier going)
