A channel showing train (& tram) driving simulations by an ex-London Underground Tube Train Driver (Piccadilly Line) working for London Transport Executive in the late 1960s and the 1970s, driving 1938, 1959 and 1973 stock trains over that period.

When I qualified as Motorman (Driver) in 1974, the first train I drove was a 1938 Stock train! This was unusual because by then these had been ‘mothballed’. The reason a few 1938 were brought back temporarily was that not enough of the new 1973 Stock were available to run a full service, so the 1938 Stock filled a gap for the short period when service levels were low. I was lucky to actually drive one of the last 1938 Stock trains on the Piccadilly Line! I had just turned 25 at the time!

I spent the previous 5 years (from 1969) as a Guard on the Piccadilly Line prior to my qualifying as Motorman in 1974.
