All the videos are live recordings of concerts held at the Fundación Juan March in Madrid, Spain. You can also watch here the streamed concerts that are held three times a week during the season: every Wednesday at 6.30 pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 12 noon (Central European Time).

It makes me a bit emotional to hear the folk music adapted by Baroque instruments and to hear Xavier play the typical Turkish way of baglama playing on the Baroque Guitar. We completely agree. To tell the whole story, Nebra’s theatrical music has received some attention in the last years. But keyboard music is virtually unknown (until now).
@HarpsichordVinylGallery Yes, they are different musicians, but relatives. José (active mainly in Madrid) is uncle of Manuel (based in Seville). The former is Scarlatti’s generation and the latter is Haydn’s. Manuel’s keyboard works are wonderfully original and unique.

As far as we know, JS Bach was completely unknown in Spain in the 1750s and 1760s, while French music was very familiar at the Spanish court since the early 18th century, if not before.
For the thousands of you who have shown interest in this video, we have added the languages of all these vocal pieces composed some 1000 years ago. There are five different early languages: Old Danish, Old French, Occitan, Middle High German and Early New High German. (Luckily, surtitles in English and Spanish make it accesible to nowadays listeners). Have fun!
