Hi! My name is Mo and welcome to my garage! After a successful 30 year career as a Civil Engineer I received a diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease at age 53. My wife Cathy and I decided to retire, leave Southern California, move to beautiful Lake Havasu City, Arizona and enjoy life. So what keeps a retired Engineer busy and entertained? Working on fun projects in the garage!! Our house has a 14-foot high by 50-foot deep fully finished garage with both air conditioning and heating (Yes it gets cold here in the winter time!). In this channel we will be working on a wide variety of projects ranging from refinishing furniture to working on power boats, cars, motorcycles and even canvas work on sailboats.! I hope you will join me on the journey of figuring new things out and on the many adventures that come to life in Mo's Garage!
Note: This channel is for entertainment purposes only and not intended as a how-to guide on any material presented herein.
Thanks for the video Mo. It helped me with my R100/T BING rebuild. I got curious when I heard that you have an MGB GT. I have an MGB too (convertible). Then I saw on your channel that you sail boats and fly airplanes, all things we have in common my friend so I had to send you guys a little shoutout. I enjoyed the coincidence ;-). Keep well. Nick
Although the boats are significantly smaller in Colorado, it gets quite crowded on our small lakes and reservoirs. One has to always keep an eye out for other nearby boats. A frequent issue is jet skis coming close to jump the boat’s wake.
Artemis looks happy to be on the water again! I’m happy for you both that you were able to arrange for the repairs relatively quickly. Mo, I think “awesome “ is your favorite word!
Yes! We are all happy that she is in on the water again! Wow! what a journey! It’s been an interesting summer vacation to say the least! And yes - Awesome!!!
I have been considering upgrading to one of these as my "forever" boat.....did you ever determine the cause? Was it a manufacturing defect? I heard there's keel bulb issues with the 2005-2009 RK models. Hope you got it repaired successfully.
The composites shop that is currently repairing it made a good point - they think that this could be possibly be like a fuseable link. In other words if you strike something with the keel it breaks vs. the boat. Also, our boat had previously lost its keel under the previous owner when it came off its mooring and ran aground. So who knows if that caused any weakening.
Well I was considering a Seaward 32RK until this happened to you. The construction method of just glass the rod to the keel is IMHO not sufficient to sustain collision loads. The rod should extend all the way into the bulb. Then again I'm not a naval architect. Is the top part of the keel foam filler?
Yes!! Makes for interesting stories after the fact!! Ultimately a 1-percenter problem! Also regardless of what we are doing in WA it is still way cooler than LHC!!
Hey!! Glad to hear from you and hope you are doing well!! So far we have had a fair amount of good luck during this bad luck endeavor and I am grateful for it!
Your car looks great ! I already installed the hi torque starter. in my 1963 B. A bitch to "clock" but worth the effort. I have a new electric fan, yet to be installed.
Hello, We also purchased a powered cooler for our 2010 26 RK. I'm in the process of installing two 100 watt solar panels on the bimini to charge a dedicated AGM battery that will power the cooler. I'm a woodworker so this is a little baptism by (electrical) fire, as you also stated. Something you showed in your installation raised a red flag from my understanding of marine appropriate wiring. The extension cord that you used for the inverter to outlet run is not tinned boat cable and may create an issue down the road. Jeffrey
Glad I found your channel. We are in the market for another sailboat since we just sold our Hunter 36. Looking to down size and the Seaward 32 RK and 26 RK are on the short list. There seems to be far more 26 RKs for sale than 32's. Questions: 1. Do you find the limited fuel and water tankage to be a hindrance? Ever wish you had more power to fight current and/or windage? How does she sail on all points? We live in Maryland and are considering doing the great loop. Nice scenery up there in the PNW. I lived in Ferndale and Bellingham YEARS ago.
We love our 26rk she is very versatile, especially since she has standing headroom for a trailerable boat! Tankage is ok. WE have a 2YM15 yanmar that burns .4 gallon per hour with a 6 gallon tank. Water is 20 gallons and black water is 15. We try to do 4 days on the hook/mooring ball followed by 1 day in the marina. Works ell for us
Did you adjust the parking brake cable at the front end near the lever. The brass trunnion can be wound/tightened onto the threaded /forward end of the cable. Just a suggestion. I like the racing stripe. I have a red ( Porsche Guards Red) 1963 with the same color interior and leather seats. I just changed the interior trim and carpets and seats to all black with a red dash.
Yes, I adjusted the cable at that location but did not have enough adjustment to actuate the brakes. I’m thinking the cable might be stretched at this point and will mostlikely need a new one
@@mosgarage2776 I gave up on mine as the DPO had butchered the cable and removed and threw away all the hardware attached to the rear axle/differential. I replaced everything involving the e brake.
