It is just a disgrace what the owners did to Black Caviar after her career was over. The owners impregnated her so many times just to make money on the foal sales. She died a few weeks ago but not before the impregnated her again while she was suffering from LAMINITIS!! The foal died at birth a so did Black Caviar. The owners should be fined millions for the inhumane way the impregnated her so MANY TIMES! Do you think Black Caviar would have just spent the rest of her years out to pasture a reward for her success?? Yes!! GREED over the health of a Great Mare! BASTARDS!!!
History will forget the uncaring greedy ownership that exploited a true champion equine,but we should never forgive those owners how took advantage of a living soul so carelessly
Continuous forced breeding was the direct cause of Black caviar's death. Even if the mare is unreceptive to the stallion, she is restrained in different ways so as to not injure the stallion or move away from him as in nature. Basically it can be the equivalent to bondage rape in humans. Sadly in this industry money talks , and the industry doesnt recognise this fact. Human treatment for her infected mothers milk caused her laminitis , and ultimate euthanization. A sad end to a beautiful girl.
Greed killed her, putting her in foal AGAIN and the pathetic owners say they loved her....they only cared about the money and prestige not about this beautiful girl
The colt they harvested before destroying her was her 9th foal. Enough was never enough…and she paid with her life. Disgusting and abusive..she never got a chance to just live a quiet life in retirement.The racing industry is a disgrace.
Agree , she never knew any rest in her life. Regimental worked in her racing career . And regimental incubated in the remainder. She had had enough of them.
we consider a 11 or 12 year old horse to be very mature or senior of age,18 years old is very old for a horse,most horses not make it past 20 years, they were still breeding her at a extremely old age,shameful really.
True indeed! She even gutted through one of the most painful disease processes a horse can experience, and gave them one last colt. I hope he’s getting the best of care, the kindest nurse mare, and that he does Nelly proud. Rest in peace, Nelly. Greatest racehorse I’ve ever followed.
The Ascot win wasn’t a huge shock on paper he was simply better than them - but after being a bit of a nut job early on 😂 to be able to get to the point where he could travel that far and produce his best was impressive.
