This is really interesting concept. I don’t see the point of the user experience when you can just talk on the radio. That being said, encoding 2800 baud via audio is pretty cool to play with. 64QAM would be amazing….

I'm confused, how do you find 10-10 members to work to get your 10 stations worked to join the club? Do you just randomly work stations and hope they're 10-10 members?

Excellent overview and insight of mobil installations by an Auto Technician who is also a Ham Radio Operator! I'm guessing Alex is a Pro at Auto/Electrical diagnostics. Some thing not mentioned, unless I missed it, was Supplementary Restraint Systems; Air Bags. I would suggest extreme caution on placement of speakers, radio control head or microphone to make sure they are out of the path of any of the Air Bags.

Cool, was able to decode from the audio off the RU-vid video of Andreas by just putting the smartphone close to the PC speakers. So that's like at least three times of encoding, right?

Koch is not pronounced like cock, it's with a soft, German CH, that you don't have in English, but you can easily use SH and pull the corners of your mouth back. Actually I'm doing it without smiling, for German and smiling doesn't compute… And Koch never said in which order you should practice the letters, so you are free as you please and how it pleases the code you will produce and that's intentional. But if you are doing Farnsworth you will suddenly learn, that you might be able to understand very fast signs, but you are unable to write them down. So in my course (Hamburg, where Mister Gerke invented modern Morse code), we are using a different order of characters than in the south of Germany. But nobody here is learning Farnsworth, because you will reach a plateau and you will have hard times to overcome it. So start with 10, 11, but very quickly in the first lesson got up to 12 wpm and then learn until you can write it down, after that learn to visualize a kind of ticker in your mind. DO NOT SPELL THE WORDS! Just visualize this ticker and your brain, that is used to read words as a whole on paper will learn to "see" this and the word just forms in your mind. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Clemens_Gerke Let's not forget Friedrich Clemens Gerke, the true father of the modern Morse code, a child of my city of Hamburg, the grave of him on the Ohlsdorfer Friedhof is long gone and nothing and nobody remembers him anymore, if it is not on us, the HAM community. Everybody knows Morse, but what did he do? Cash in some communication patents, done nothing for the code. Those who actually invented the code should get a bit more love from us, everybody knows Morse, nobody knows the real heros of the story, that's on us to teach. It's like knowing the Raspberry Pi and not knowing Neal Stephenson and his book "Diamond Age" and how that let to OLPC and then to RPi and what that means for the world. Nobody knows Neal Stephenson and his real gift to humanity: the idea behind all that. One of my silent hero's of our time. And Koch also deserves his name not to be butchered. translate.google.de/?sl=auto&tl=de&text=cook%0A&op=translate Click on "Koch" how to pronounce it. Thank you for your work! Don't mind my nitpicking, that's a German idiosyncrasy. You can join in on our living heritage of those grand days of Gerke every monday 18:00utc 3563 kHz (AGCW telegram) and every weekday 7039 kHz around 13:00utc in the European region. Every second Tuesday otm, I think, is QRS 12wpm, because my teacher will be the OP. So we will hold up the heritage here, too in good old Yurop. 73 es gd dx de dadidit didadidit dadadididit didididit didididit / didadidadit

I can’t believe there are only 3 comments when you are providing the best insight to RFI noise I have found. I’ve spent $3000 setting up a cb base station this year, the high cost partly due to a mysterious pulsing noise on my base radios that covers up everything but strong signals. I just got a MFJ 5008 and scan the neighborhood. AM radio zeros in on a house about 100 ft away. Power co came out once. I want to build one of your yogi antenna systems if you would share that information. 73s

Love the PI. Good video. New sub here. Linux is my love language haha. Spent years in telecom engineering with many Linux based systems. Also in retirement I am building an avionics project for my flight simulator based on Xplane. The Arduino is more like a microcontroller where the Pi is more of general processor.

A mixture is useless on Amateur Radio. The people who use them will always listen to themselves and you will know it when you hear them because it changes the way they operate. They will bug the crap out of the people they speak with because they will never remain happy with their audio no matter what. They become obsessed with their audio and more than likely it sounded better before they added the useless mixer.
