Its 2023 and you guys are back on my A list. I discovered Apologies to Queen Mary in Tulsa 2006. I was 24 and embarking on life. An Ice Storm hit and my college was closed for weeks. I had some time to get to know the record. So its 2023 now and I gave Shine a light a listen last night. It was stuck in my head and I needed something to listen to while I painted Warhammer, 3am. Beautiful how brand new things can be discovered in the same old songs later on in life. I had to cry. The song describes my present life and attitude about the world to a T. Come to think of it, the whole album does. I played it from beginning to end and just balled. It is such a beautiful piece of music. Almost like a prophesy. "Someday these words will make perfect sense to you." and they did. When I discovered the album in my youth, it was just something cool to listen to. Today it is a companion that understands exactly how I feel and hurt, and it's arrived just in time. I'm in dire need of a friend today and your songs are helping me maintain my grip on things. I know that the video is talking about Expo, lol but I'm sitting here diving deep into your catalog right now, listening to this video for the interview value. Would you consider making one for Queen Mary? I just wanted to share with you how much your music means to me right now and thank you as well. Keep turning out gold you guys!
Wow! It's really true. You never disappoint. Even with all the changes in sound and style out there; your still true. LOVE THIS. LOVE WOLF PARADE. You people helped me thru some dark times.
Most under rated band of Canada. I believe there is there is so much hope for music after hearing this album. It is seriously as awesome as Apologies to the queen but in a totally different way. Thanks
"He's just sitting at the bar carving shapes that look like d*cks into the wood" might be the most Chad VanGaalen thing in this Chad VanGaalen music video. haha If you're not familiar with fellow Sub Pop, Canadian musician Chad VanGaalen I highly reccomend his other animations/original music videos for "Pine & Clover" "Peace On The Rise" "Monster" "Molten Light"
Wtf. Let me be your publicist. There is no reason why more people don’t know you guys are still releasing music. I’m pissed off cos I barely heard about the last record and I’m still suffering hearing loss from seeing you guys back in 2006. I’d like to pass on the favor to younger fans that deserve it.
"Nobody is going to stop me from or for doing this?" ,dan' asks good God unsuredly. "Nope." He replied. "Okay then. Put me in there." I said." ,dan' (assure me don't reassure me)
"When I am lit up, when I am humble, ego would have me use words that keep me from speaking for someone that isn't me. There is no we to me, there is not everybody nor everyone when I am not one with all. There is I. There isn't is or was. I have worn a clear mind and the seconds filled the tube of my brain with smoke. (signs, logos and commercials beat down the door with a flood that King Cash knew wasn't immune to floods) ,dan'
What I appreciate about Wolf Parade ever since 2005's Apologies to the Queen Mary was released is that they've always made a commitment to not indulge in pop music industry cliches the way that other bands do for record sales. This song is more on the poppy side (it's the first time one of their songs has ever stuck in my head like an earworm) but i actually welcome it.
"I'll keep them coming as or so long as I don't die. Let me live forever so I can or may rub your nose in a rose until you get it." ,dan' (you'll never get the dogshit I ain't rude or mean)
